POSITION TITLE: Senior Director, Technical Training — Career Accelerator

Location: Remote

Reports To: Senior Vice President, Career Accelerator and Alumni Relations


WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Per Scholas seeks a Senior Director, Technical Training, to lead the delivery and continuous improvement of technical upskilling across the alumni training continuum and Per Scholas’ Career Accelerator. This leader owns the end-to-end product delivery experience for alumni and external learners, ensuring high-quality, industry-aligned instruction that drives completion, certification attainment, and ultimately job mobility.

You are both a technical and andragogical expert; someone who deeply understands how adults learn, how technical skills translate to the labor market, and how to build scalable instructional systems that deliver consistent outcomes. You bring experience leading distributed instructional teams and are energized by building high-impact learning environments that balance rigor, flexibility, and accessibility.

With ambitious growth goals and a commitment to economic mobility, you will lead a national team of full-time and adjunct instructors, ensuring delivery excellence across instructor-led and asynchronous programs.

WHAT YOU’LL DO


Technical Training Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead a national technical training strategy aligned to Career Accelerator growth and outcomes goals.
  • Serve as the lead technical and andragogical subject matter expert for the Career Accelerator and Alumni Relations team.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing, nationally distributed team of full-time and adjunct instructors.
  • Align curriculum delivery with evolving industry demands and certification requirements.

Instructional Delivery & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across instructor-led and asynchronous learning experiences.
  • Develop and implement instructor onboarding, training, and evaluation systems.
  • Establish clear instructional expectations, observation practices, and continuous improvement cycles.
  • Monitor learner engagement, retention, and completion data to drive instructional improvements.
  • Build systems that ensure instructional rigor while supporting diverse learner needs.

Certification & Outcomes Management

  • Partner with CAAR leadership to drive strategies to increase certification participation and pass rates across all programs.
  • Partner with Product and Curriculum teams to align training with certification pathways.
  • Collaborate with CAAR operations and impact to implement supports such as exam readiness resources, practice testing, and learner accountability systems.
  • Track and analyze certification outcomes to inform program design and instructional adjustments.
  • Identify barriers to learner persistence and implement strategies to improve retention and completion.

Instructional Operations & Systems

  • Contribute to building scalable systems for scheduling, staffing, and delivery across multiple programs and modalities.
  • Optimize instructor utilization across full-time and adjunct talent pools.
  • Implement tools and processes to support virtual, hybrid, and asynchronous learning environments.
  • Develop dashboards and KPIs to monitor instructional performance and learner outcomes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Mission Alignment

  • Partner closely with Product, Curriculum, and Enrollment teams to align program design with delivery realities.
  • Collaborate with Career Services and Employer Partnerships to ensure training aligns with job market demand.
  • Provide insights from instructional delivery to inform program iteration and strategic planning.
  • Align instructional pacing and capacity with enrollment growth and organizational goals.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO US


Technical Training & Instructional Leadership Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in technical training, workforce development, or adult education.
  • Proven success leading instructional delivery at scale across multiple programs and modalities.
  • Experience managing distributed teams of instructors, including adjunct or contract faculty.
  • Strong understanding of certification-based training (e.g., IT, cybersecurity, cloud, data).

Andragogy & Learning Design Expertise

  • Deep knowledge of adult learning theory and evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Experience designing or implementing learner-centered, outcomes-driven training models.
  • Ability to translate complex technical content into accessible, high-impact learning experiences.

Systems & Operational Excellence

  • Experience building scalable instructional systems, processes, and performance management frameworks.
  • Strong data orientation with an ability to use metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms, virtual learning tools, and instructional technology ecosystems.

Professional and Personal Qualities 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Mission-driven leader committed to advancing equity in education and workforce development.
  • Strong people manager with a coaching mindset and commitment to team development.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and energized by building and scaling new initiatives.

Compensation 

For this role specifically, we are targeting a salary range of $75,000 - $ 85,000, where the difference in salary is typically determined by several factors, including the geography in which the selected candidate resides and alignment with qualifications and experience.

Holidays & PTO: Full-Time Per Scholas team members enjoy over 40 days of paid time off each year through a mix of holidays, vacation, and sick/personal time! All employees are eligible for Holiday pay upon hire (a total of 22 holidays annually, including a week off for Independence day and a week before the New Year). Full-Time Benefits Eligible employees also receive 80 Wellness Hours to use for Sick, Safe, or Personal reasons and accrue Vacation at a rate of 8 hours at the beginning of every month, supporting rest, recharge, and work-life balance. Vacation accruals increase with tenure. Part-time employees are afforded time off on a prorated basis and in accordance with local requirements. 

Comprehensive Medical Coverage: Benefit eligible employees can choose from multiple medical plans through Cigna or Kaiser Permanente (where available), with options to fit your needs. Eligible employees also have access to a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) that reimburses eligible out-of-pocket expenses, up to $4,000 for individuals and $8,000 for families.

Dental and Vision Insurance: Eligible employees can select from two dental plan options and a vision plan. Employees who waive medical coverage receive employer paid dental and vision premiums.

Retirement Savings: 401(k) plan with a current 100% employer match on contributions up to 6%, eligible employees are offered entry and full vesting after 90 days with the company.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Free, confidential, 24/7 access to counseling, legal support, and financial resources for employees and their household members

Parental Leave: Eligible employees are offered up to 6 weeks of 100% paid parental leave to support employees as they welcome a new child and bond with their family.

Additional Benefits & Perks: Eligible employees have access to employer-paid life and AD&D Insurance, as well as employer-paid short-term disability coverage, with the option to elect additional life coverage and long-term disability insurance.
