Snapshot

At Google DeepMind, we’re a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges, ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority. We don’t set limits based on what others think is possible or impossible. We drive ourselves and inspire each other to push boundaries and achieve ambitious goals.

The Area: Gemini App

The Gemini App is at the forefront of the AI revolution, bringing helpful, generative AI experiences to users across the globe. We are seeking a visionary Design Leader to lead the strategy that will define the future of our product.

The Role

As a leader, you will use your UX expertise to innovate and push the bounds of what the Gemini App can be for our customers. Your passion for design and obsession with craft and quality are infectious, and your creative perspective is informed by a deep awareness of cultural, aesthetic, and artistic trends. The Growth & Discovery Lead is responsible for the "First Mile" of the user journey. Your mission is to solve the "blank page" problem—ensuring that every user who downloads the Gemini app immediately discovers its value and integrates it into their daily life through intuitive onboarding and feature education.

Key responsibilities:

  • Onboarding Excellence: Own the end-to-end mobile onboarding flow. You will ruthlessly eliminate friction, ensuring users reach their first "Aha!" moment within seconds of
    installation.

  • Discovery Engine Design: Create contextual UI "hooks" and educational prompts that teach users how to harness Gemini’s unique mobile features, such as "Live" voice and camera-based reasoning.

  • Data-Informed Iteration: Partner with Growth Marketing to run high-velocity A/B tests on app entry points, home-screen widgets, and subscription conversions.

  • Viral Growth Loops: Design product-led growth mechanisms that make Gemini content easily shareable, driving organic adoption and network effects.

About You

In order to set you up for success,  we look for the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum: 15+ years of experience in User Experience / Design, with experience establishing UX best practices for emerging technologies or ambiguous problem spaces.
  • 10+ years in Product Design with a specialized focus on Growth, PLG, or User Acquisition.
  • Mastery of behavioral psychology and using data to inform high-craft design decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive product strategy.

Preferred background includes one or any combination of the following:

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in a design-related field.
  • Experience with AI/ML and agentic technologies; Depth and breadth of knowledge that enables ideation and development of creative solutions.

Note: In the event your application is successful and an offer of employment is made to you, any offer of employment will be conditional on the results of a background check, performed by a third party acting on our behalf.
