Role Overview:

Could you be our next Divisional VP, Tax? Globe Life is looking for a Divisional VP, Tax to join the team!

In this role, you will be responsible for employing sound judgment and extensive tax accounting and compliance knowledge in this role while managing the Company’s U.S. federal income tax financial reporting and compliance operations.  This position is also responsible for calculating the tax impact of financial projections, acquisitions, and changes in tax law, as well as overseeing the team of tax professionals.

This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, Texas (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday).

What You Will Do:

  • Management of income tax compliance process for consolidated group of companies, including preparation of quarterly and year-end federal income tax provisions and returns
  • Developing, analyzing, and documenting tax planning opportunities, tax compliance issues and other special projects
  • Resolution of issues raised during Internal Revenue Service examinations
  • Analyze and implement new developments in tax law and communicate relevant changes to company personnel
  • Effective communication with financial reporting personnel
  • Active pursuit of individual professional development and continuing education opportunities 

What You Can Bring:

  • 10+ years of tax compliance experience in public accounting or tax department of a life insurance company.
  • 5+ years managing a team of tax professionals
  • Accounting degree required; CPA designation required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • Excellent analytical, technical and tax accounting skills with proficiency in US GAAP (ASC 740), US Statutory (SSAP 101), US corporate taxation of life insurance companies, and consolidated returns.  
  • Strong tax research skills/abilities
  • Ability to lead and develop a team of professionals for skill development and a collaborative working environment
  • Strong managerial and verbal/written communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to contribute to a culture of excellence and accountability
  • Ability to interact with others in the department and Company while demonstrating individual initiative, resourcefulness, and independent thinking
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
