About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a DLP Web and Email Principal Engineer to lead the design, development, and strategic direction of our Data Loss Prevention (DLP) capabilities. This role will serve as the senior technical authority for DLP engineering, driving innovation and automation in data protection, policy enforcement, and threat mitigation. The engineer will collaborate closely with teams across Cybersecurity, Information Protection, Workplace Technology, Network Security, and Enterprise Messaging.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience in building scalable DLP solutions, integrating with enterprise platforms, and applying advanced analytics to detect and prevent data exfiltration. This role requires strong leadership in guiding engineering teams, influencing executive stakeholders, and interfacing with legal, compliance, and business units to ensure alignment with regulatory and operational priorities.

In this role, you will:
- Advise leadership on DLP architecture and engineering strategies for complex business needs
- Lead resolution of highly complex challenges requiring cross-functional collaboration and innovation
- Translate enterprise data protection goals into technical engineering solutions
- Provide vision and direction for implementing long-term DLP capabilities
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and recommend innovations to enhance data protection
- Engage with professionals across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
- Principal Engineer (SME/technical authority) for DLP engineering across email, and web channels
- Architect and implement scalable DLP solutions using advanced analytics and automation
- Lead strategy planning for DLP capabilities within Cybersecurity and Information Protection
- Provide technical oversight to engineering teams supporting DLP platforms and integrations
- Partner with executive leadership to align DLP solutions with business and regulatory priorities
- Drive innovation in detection techniques using machine learning and behavioral analytics
- Act as a force multiplier by enabling engineering teams through reusable frameworks and automation
- 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military service, or education
- 7+ years of experience in DLP engineering or data protection technologies
- 5+ years of experience with email and web security platforms (e.g., Proofpoint, Symantec, Zscaler)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Broadcom DLP, including:
- - Policy creation and tuning across multiple channels (email, web, endpoint)
- - Integration with enterprise systems such as SIEM, CASB, and ticketing platforms
- - Incident triage and response workflows
- - Custom rule development using EDM/IDM and regex
- - Performance optimization and troubleshooting of DLP agents and infrastructure
- 5+ years of experience in information security risk management or cybersecurity engineering
- Experience with DLP policy development, tuning, and incident response
- Experience integrating DLP with SIEM platforms and case management systems
- Strong understanding of data classification, encryption, and secure transmission protocols
- Certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, or vendor-specific DLP certifications
- Experience articulating technical risks and solutions to senior leadership
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., GLBA, GDPR, CCPA) and their impact on data protection
- Experience working in a large enterprise environment
- Knowledge and understanding of banking or financial services industry
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment while balancing multiple priorities.
