DoD Innovation Strategist

SightLine Ventures | Full-Time | High-Impact Role

Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for an operator or acquisition professional with 4 to 10 years of active duty experience. Someone who understands the mission and/or knows how to navigate the DoD acquisition system, and can operate in fast-paced, high-stakes environments. You think strategically, communicate clearly, and execute with precision. You’ve led teams, delivered under pressure, negotiated tough deals, and made decisions when the margin for error was zero.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Innovation Management - Lead the development and execution of innovation strategies aligned with DoD mission priorities. Help clients embed cutting-edge technology into real operational use cases.
  • Dual-Use Technology Integration - Engage with startups and small businesses across AI, space, quantum, autonomy, cybersecurity, and more. Drive the transition of commercial tech into defense applications.
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Build trusted relationships across the DoD, venture capital, industry, and academia. Translate across domains to move technology into the field.
  • Capture Management - Own the full capture process. Identify opportunities, shape the strategy, lead proposal execution, and close contracts.
  • Team Collaboration - Mentor others. Share knowledge. Help build a high-performance culture that makes each other better every day.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, business, or a related field
  • 4 to 10 years of active-duty experience with operational and/or acquisition experience
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven track record of performance and delivering results
  • Deep understanding of DoD, dual-use technology, and the national security innovation ecosystem
  • Operates confidently in dynamic, high-expectation environments

Compensation (if hired at the end of internship)First-year On-Target Earnings (OTE) are typically $150K+. High-performing consultants commonly reach $200K+ in annual earnings by their second year.
