Overview:
Apex Systems is seeking motivated service members to participate in our IT/Cybersecurity SkillBridge Internship Program. This program provides structured technical training, industry-recognized certifications, and meaningful networking experiences to support a smooth transition into civilian IT careers.
Interns will spend 50% of their time developing technical skills through Apex’s training platform and 50% networking with other transitioning service members who are exploring IT career pathways. These peer conversations help interns build a strong professional network, gain real‑world career insights, and learn from the experiences of other veterans navigating the IT job market.
The overall goal of the internship is to prepare participants for post‑service careers across Apex’s IT practice areas—networking, cloud, cybersecurity, engineering, helpdesk, and more.

Responsibilities:

- CEH
- CCNA
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
- Azure-900
- CISSP
- CySA+
- Linux+
- CISM

- Prepare for and sit for certification exams using Apex’s training resources.
2. Peer Networking & Veteran Engagement (50% of the day)
- Connect with other transitioning service members who are exploring or entering IT career fields.
- Participate in peer-to-peer conversations to share experiences, lessons learned, and available resources.
- Help fellow veterans understand SkillBridge opportunities, IT career pathways, and transition tools.
- Build a professional network that supports long-term career growth and job exploration.
- Serve as a resource for new SkillBridge participants by sharing insights on study strategies, certifications, and navigating civilian IT roles.
- Residents will serve as a liaison between veterans exploring civilian IT roles, and the Apex teams that support hiring and career development.
- This networking component enables interns to learn from the transition journeys of their peers, strengthen communication skills, and expand their professional footprint within the IT sector.
3. Onboarding & Transition Support
- Take part in program onboarding, goal setting, and mentorship activities.
- Attend professional development touchpoints with Apex team members.
- Complete out-processing activities and interview for full-time roles with Apex Systems or partner employers.
Qualifications
- Active-duty U.S. military and SkillBridge eligible.
- Active Secret clearance or higher (minimum).
- Security+ certification or relevant IT experience with a desire to obtain certifications during the internship.
- Willingness to work in Washington, DC, or another Apex location post-internship (to be discussed during intake). This WILL NOT be a remote job if hired after the internship.
- Strong self-discipline and ability to manage a remote, self-paced schedule.
- Interest in pursuing a career in IT, cybersecurity, or technical support roles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Motivation to support peers and actively participate in networking.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
