The Boeing Company seeks an Electrical Engineering and Mission Systems Manager to join our Phantom Works Space Technologies team in El Segundo, CA. In this dynamic, visionary role you will lead a multidisciplinary team of electrical, electronic, and systems engineers across the full engineering lifecycle-technology investment, concept development, proposal preparation, requirements definition, design, build, integration, test, and demonstration-driving the development and delivery of advanced space technologies and mission systems, including photonics and electro-optics capabilities. You will also collaborate closely with Space Technologies Integrated Product Teams to align technical strategy and execution.
A key responsibility is building and developing the engineering team: you will forecast staffing needs, ensure proper resourcing, support recruiting and hiring efforts, and own career and talent development to equip incoming engineers with the skills and experience required to thrive in a rapidly evolving field. Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills are essential.

Position Responsibilities
As a leader in this role, you will be entrusted with the following key responsibilities:
  • Manage, develop, motivate, and retain electrical, electronic, and systems engineering personnel supporting space technologies.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and experience mix to meet current and forecasted program needs, including security clearances and emerging skill requirements.
  • Build and sustain relationships with stakeholders and partners; provide oversight of technical approaches, products, and processes.
  • Facilitate cross-team collaboration and ensure employees have the tools, processes, and information needed to perform effectively.
  • Provide technical guidance, resolve engineering issues, and create professional growth opportunities to enable staff success.
  • Implement and report on standard performance metrics to identify issues early and proactively mitigate program risks.
  • Solve complex technical and programmatic problems, manage multiple concurrent tasks, and apply industry best practices to development projects.
  • Report team performance and program progress to Phantom Works leadership and BDS PW Engineering.
  • Set employee priorities and conduct performance evaluations.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years of experience in project leadership roles
  • 5+ years of experience in space technologies

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with satellite systems (bus, payload, GNC, ground segment, and related subsystems)
  • Familiarity with satellite applications for DoD and U.S. government customers
  • Knowledge of staffing requirements to support space-technology roadmaps, maturation, and transition to programs
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand staffing environment
  • Proven experience contributing to and/or managing complex integrated product teams (IPTs) to deliver on budget, on schedule, and to performance requirements
  • Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM), program/project management, and risk/issue/opportunity management practices
  • Experience with proposal development and capture activities
  • Demonstrated people-management experience, including hiring, performance management, and career development
  • Track record of successful cross-program and cross-organization collaboration

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
Travel up to 10%
Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active). In addition, the applicant needs to have the ability to obtain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Conflict of Interest: Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the Company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.

Summary pay range:
$151,300-$204,700
