Own electrical testing and quality assurance for boards, assemblies, and buoy systems. Troubleshoot failures, develop test procedures, track quality trends, and collaborate with design, manufacturing, and technician teams on root-cause analysis. Support harness documentation, future PCBA design, and custom hardware integrations. The role is intended for an early-career electrical engineer with hands-on project experience, schematic-reading ability, and familiarity with laboratory equipment.
About Andrenam
We’re building sonar and sensing systems that bring light to the last dark domain: the ocean. Our team includes alumni from SpaceX, Anduril, ABL, Palantir and Qualia. We build full-stack—from physics to perception to product—with speed, elegance, and an unwavering commitment to the mission.
We believe the maritime domain will define the next century of economics, geopolitics, and global security. We're here to shape it.
About this role
Andrenam is seeking an early career Electrical Engineer to make sure our hardware works the way it should, every time. You'll start by owning EE test and QA: testing boards and assemblies, troubleshooting failures, and diagnosing issues across our buoy hardware. As you build depth on our systems, you'll grow into harnessing and simple PCBA design. You'll also support custom hardware integrations when customers need something our standard platform doesn't yet do.
You'll work closely with our electrical design team, who will help you ramp up on our hardware. We're looking for someone who is hungry to learn, takes ownership seriously, and is excited to grow as an engineer while helping define how we build as we scale.
What you'll do
Test and QA:
- Own electrical testing of boards, subassemblies, and full buoy systems.
- Build and improve test procedures so every unit is checked consistently.
- Track test results and quality issues, and flag trends to the design team.
Troubleshooting and Diagnosis:
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical failures across our buoy hardware.
- Work with the electrical design team to root-cause issues and verify fixes.
- Partner with our technicians and manufacturing team to clear build issues quickly.
Harnessing and PCBA:
- Support harness builds, drawings, and documentation.
- Over time, take on PCBA design and revisions with support from senior engineers.
Custom Integration:
- Support custom and one-off integration builds for special customer requirements, helping build and test them through deployment.
- Help verify that new integrations don't compromise core subsystem power, communications, or performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field.
- Hands-on electrical experience through coursework, projects, internships, or student engineering teams, with at least one project you can walk through in detail.
- Comfortable reading schematics and using common lab equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies).
- Strong problem-solving instincts and a willingness to dig into unfamiliar problems until they're solved.
- Clear communication and a track record of working well with others across teams.
- A high sense of ownership, a strong work ethic, and a drive to learn fast.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to schematic capture or PCB layout tools.
- Board bring-up or hardware debugging experience.
- Experience with wire harness design, builds, or drawings.
- Scripting experience (such as Python) for test automation.
- Experience on a student engineering team such as robotics, SAE, or similar design-build competitions.
Location
Work full-time onsite from our Torrance, CA office.
