We’re looking for an Electrical Validation Engineer to join the Spectacles team!

What you’ll do:

  • Test Execution: Perform hands-on validation tests of electrical hardware prototypes, subsystems, and integrated products using various lab equipment

  • Test Setup: Assist in setting up and configuring validation test benches, including connecting lab equipment, custom fixtures, and test automation systems

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Collect and organize test data, performing initial analysis to identify trends or deviations from expected behavior

  • Debugging Support: Support senior engineers and reliability engineers in debugging hardware and system-level issues by isolating problems, reproducing failures, and gathering relevant diagnostic information

  • Documentation: Accurately document test procedures, results, observations, and bug reports.

  • Scripting: Own the development and improvement of simple test scripts and automation routines for data collection

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including design, firmware, software, and test engineering to understand specifications and contribute to problem resolution

  • Performance Characterization: Independently characterize basic electrical parameters like power consumption, signal integrity, and timing under various conditions

  • Continuous Learning: Actively seek to learn new validation methodologies, tools, and hardware technologies from senior team members and industry best practices

  • Travel internationally up to 20%

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Foundational understanding of electrical engineering principles, including digital and analog circuits, power electronics, and basic signal integrity concepts.

  • Hands-on experience with common lab test and measurement equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, function generators).

  • Basic proficiency with scripting languages for test automation (e.g., Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW).

  • Experience with debugging hardware in a lab environment.

  • Good understanding of firmware/software interaction with hardware

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information.

  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and contribute in a team environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical, or relevant technical field

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical hardware validation, test engineering, or a related field

  • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, or FPGAs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)

  • Ability to specify and select test equipment for lab improvements

  • Familiarity with common high-speed interfaces (e.g., USB, PCIe, DDR, MIPI)

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $157,000-$235,000 annually.


 

Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $149,000-$223,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $133,000-$200,000 annually.

This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
