About Moon Five
Moon Five helps multi-family homes unlock the full potential of their existing electrical infrastructure — starting with plug-and-play direct-to-tenant EV charging at $50/month and zero upfront costs.
Moon Five’s hardware, software, and deployment optimizations allows us to skip the costly infrastructure upgrade and long installation cycles, enabling rapid EV charging adoption today while setting the stage for future energy services like load balancing, DERs, and affordable backup energy. Our system, called Horizon, consists of an EV charger, apartment energy management system, and building energy management system that measure the amount of current being used at an apartment and throttle the energy going to the charger to keep the apartment breaker from tripping.
Moon Five is a Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) portfolio company, and participated in Berkeley Skydeck, Creative Destruction Labs, and Cleantech Open and is an Energy Power Research Institute’s (EPRI) Incubatenergy Finalist.

Responsibilities
Assemble and run calibration tests on test station (bring up)
Support first-power, bring-up, and debug of prototype charging and energy management units
Conduct functional tests on EVSE and energy management systems including functional validation, safety checks, and power calibration
Perform detailed electrical testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, electronic loads, spectrum analyzers, and custom-built testing equipment to validate design performance
Troubleshoot electrical systems at component and system levels, identifying root causes of failures and implementing corrective actions
Collaborate with engineering to improve test procedures, develop automated test sequences, and optimize production workflows
Support production ramp-up by creating assembly work instructions, SOPs, and implementing quality control procedures
Assist with pre-compliance testing setup and data collection to prepare for formal NRTL certification testing
