Scope of Position
- Designs and executes plans and activities to ensure that MSM meets or exceeds the requirements of Magna’s Energy and Sustainability Standards and Targets. Continually delivers projects that improve cost and reduce environmental impact.
- Undergraduate degree in a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years experience leading energy or sustainability projects in industry.
- Certified Energy Manager an asset.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills as well as excellent spelling and grammatical skills.
- Excellent computer skills and experience with PC based computer software, eg. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and internet research.
- Demonstrated organizational and analytical skill and an ability to work within and meet deadlines.
- Detail driven.
- Must have the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Ability to preserve confidential nature of assignments.
Vacancy: Immediate, Open Position
Annual Compensation Range: $70,000 to $85,000.
Job Specific Responsibilities- Take responsibility in conjunction with the Energy and Sustainability team reporting, and optimizing emissions and costs
- Determination and utilization of all possible fundings and reduction potentials
- Take responsibility for Energy Compliance at the division (current legislation in energy law)
- Take responsibility of education regarding energy management and emmissions control
- Determination and recording of operational energy consumption, energy costs (natural gas, electricity, heat, compressed air, water, welding gas, e.g.) and associated environmental impact (carbon footprint)
- Detection of optimization potentials through the energy monitoring system
- Benchmark of new / existing energy and sustainability efficiency measures at other Magna plants or suppliers – examination of innovative technologies / processes, the use of which sustainably promote the areas of the division in terms of energy use
- Stay in contact with other Energy and Sustainability Champions of Magna as well as the Corporate and Group Energy and Sustainability leads
- Deliver and deploy a Carbon Net-Zero Plan in line with the Magna Net-Zero Playbook
- Lead a cross-functional team to deliver on Magna’s Sustainable Development goals
- Ensures that any customer needs relevant to energy or sustainability management are met on time
- Take responsibility of the Mafact 6.10 Energy Reduction and 6.11 Sustainability questionnaire and score
- Lead monthly Energy and Sustainability Team meeting
- Update monthly sustainability metrix data on HSELinx (fuel usage, waste, water, etc.)
- Develop business case/calculate ROIs for energy and sustainability projects
- Update HSELinx with applicable projects/updates
- Semi-annual update of HSELinx Global Energy Project Tracker
- Organization of Energy Walks / Treasure Hunts during production and non-production times
- Participate in the (Expanded Energy Manager) EEM Program, with the expectation to complete and verify 5% in savings
- Evaluate new machines for energy efficiency
- Enforces start up/shut down policies and monitor for improvements
- Review and improve peak demand management
- Support Engineering team with additional duties
Other responsibilities
- Operate and manage an expense budget
- Must be able to work flexible hours as required for occasional out of town visits
- Must be able to travel between locations
- Perform other duties assigned by Management
