The Role

We’re searching for a whip-smart, entrepreneurial energy nerd with a passion for energy markets  and a sharp eye for process and tool improvement to join our world-class team as an Energy Markets Analyst. This role offers broad exposure across Energy Markets, with a particular focus on growing our participation in NYISO’s wholesale programs. The Analyst will work within the NYISO Energy Markets team, and across other markets and functions within the company, to manage program participation, adapt and establish best practices, standardize workflows, and unlock scalable approaches that support both internal execution and external growth.

In this role, you will be tasked with managing our participation in the NYISO Wholesale Capacity market through the Special Case Resources (SCR) program and the Distributed Energy Resource Participation Model (DER PM). You will work closely with the rest of the NYISO team, and collaborate closely across Sales, Partnerships, Product, Engineering, and Operations to ensure optimal participation, streamline processes, and build durable, scalable solutions. You will play a critical role in reducing manual effort, improving tooling, and expanding our ability to scale in these programs.

This is a remote role, with flexibility to work from anywhere, while engaging in market-facing activities and collaborating with teammates and stakeholders during continental U.S. business hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and enhance tools that support participation in NYISO’s Wholesale Capacity Market.

  • Understand and communicate program rules into easy-to-understand instructions for account managers and customers, as well as technical requirements for product development.

  • Develop and contribute to analytical tools that support both operational and customer-facing needs.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, and Product to enhance the margin and overall performance of our portfolios.

  • Innovate and generate new ideas for how Voltus can continue to deliver Better Energy and More Cash to our customers.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work product.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Uncommonly driven to succeed and maniacally self-initiated.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment.

  • Programming experience in Python, SQL, Strong technical proficiency in Excel.

  • Exhibited interest in the energy and/or climate space.

  • Experience in the demand-side energy industry (Preferred, not required).

  • 1-2 years of work experience.

Additionally, while Voltus is an all-remote workplace, we have limitations on where employees are able to work for regulatory and security reasons. We expect that Voltans are working primarily from their home country. Working while traveling to other countries must be approved as per our Global Remote Travel Policy.
