Energy Storage Backend DevSecOps Engineer / Software Solutions Engineer (Senior - Principal level) 

Locations: FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)


This is an opportunity to join a trailblazing BESS (Battery Energy Storage) company backed by top-tier private equity, leading the charge in utility-scale energy storage development, execution, and operations. They have a rapidly expanding national footprint, and double digit GW portfolio including one of the largest fleets of grid-connected standalone battery storage assets in the country.

As part of their goal to drive innovation in the sector they are continuing to scale out their technology team and recently opened a Senior to Principoal level Energy Storage DevSec Ops Solutions Engineer to take deep ownership of the backend systems and cloud infrastructure that power critical energy asset operations.

The organization manages one of the largest utility-scale energy storage portfolios on the continent, operating in real-time wholesale power markets where system reliability isn't a "nice-to-have"...It's mission-critical. Their engineering team builds the internal platforms, data pipelines, and cloud-native services that make all of it work.

The Principal / Senior Energy Storage DevSec Ops Solutions Engineer will be tasked with building, scaling, and owning the backend systems and cloud infrastructure behind our energy storage operations. This is hands-on, end-to-end work. You'll write production code, shape architecture, and keep everything running reliably at scale. Ability to problem solve, build, and deploy automated workflows is critical.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Energy Storage Backend DevSecOps Solutions Engineer (Senior - Principal level) -- Design and operate backend services, internal platforms, and shared infrastructure in AWS
  • Energy Storage Backend DevSecOps Solutions Engineer (Senior - Principal level) - Write clean, testable production code in Python
  • Energy Storage Backend DevSecOps Solutions Engineer (Senior - Principal level) - Own cloud-native systems across their full lifecycle — build, deploy, observe, and improve
  • Energy Storage Backend DevSecOps Solutions Engineer (Senior - Principal level) - Building and managing Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
  • Energy Storage Backend DevSecOps Solutions Engineer (Senior - Principal level) - Supporting data platforms, analytics, and ML-adjacent workloads
  • Energy Storage Backend DevSecOps Solutions Engineer (Senior - Principal level) - Building and evolving CI/CD pipelines that test, validate, and deploy both application and infrastructure code
  • Energy Storage Backend DevSecOps Solutions Engineer (Senior - Principal level) - Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 6-10+ years of backend development, specializing in Python, AWS cloud solutions, and scalable, resilient systems for mission-critical applications; 5+ years in platform, backend, data engineering, CloudOps, or SRE
  • Deep, hands-on AWS expertise: VPC, IAM, EKS/ECS, RDS, S3, and related managed services
  • Production experience operating containerized workloads with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD, Git-based workflows, and automated testing
  • Data platform or ML infra experience, event-driven architecture, internal developer platform work
  • Infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation), functional programming, and Python data science libraries (pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn).
  • Expertise in designing scalable, distributed systems for mission-critical applications, emphasizing transactional resilience, data integrity, and compliance-readiness.
  • Proficient in modern frameworks like Next.js and React, with the adaptability to learn and implement new technologies as needed.
  • Proven track record of leading technical initiatives from ideation to delivery, including managing timelines, setting clear expectations, and mentoring junior team members.
  • Competent in compliance-driven system architecture and engineering, ensuring audit readiness and robust system performance.
  • HUGE PLUS - experience working in production ready coding environments in the energy trading or financial trading sector
  • HUGE PLUS - solid understanding of national energy markets and renewable energy portfolios - PJM, ERCOT, SPP, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, and CAISO
  • Ideal candidates for this role will have experience working in Senior, Lead, Principal Engineer roles as a DevSecOps Engineer, SRE, Software Site Reliability Engineer Software Engineer, Backend Solutions Engineer, Back-end Engineer, Backend Software Engineer, Software Developer, Backend Developer....etc.
