How we work

We are builders aspiring to master our crafts. We care deeply about our teammates and want to win, together. We embrace the following values:

  • Accelerate impact
  • Raise the bar
  • Make our users heroes
  • Clear is kind
  • Rapid learning machine
  • One team one dream

About this role

As an Engineering Manager at Scribe, you’ll be at the forefront of building and scaling a product that transforms how people document and share knowledge. You’ll lead a high-performing full-stack team, tackling complex technical and product challenges in a fast-moving environment. Beyond shipping code, you’ll shape Scribe’s engineering culture, drive technical excellence, and contribute to company-wide strategy as we scale.

We work with a variety of technologies, particularly React, NextJS, Django, Postgres, and AWS. While experience with these technologies is helpful, we value adaptability and a willingness to learn just as much.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the technical vision, leading the team to build scalable, reliable, and elegant solutions.
  • Own product outcomes, working closely with product, design, and business leaders to ensure we're solving the most important problems.
  • Architect processes that scale, balancing speed and stability as the company grows.
  • Drive execution, ensuring the team consistently ships high-impact, high-quality products in a fast-paced environment.
  • Challenge and inspire the team with bold goals that create measurable impact for the company and our users.
  • Raise the bar, fostering a culture of technical excellence, rapid iteration, and continuous improvement.
  • Be a force multiplier, hiring, coaching, and mentoring a high-caliber, diverse team of engineers.

You could be a great fit if

  • 3+ years of experience leading and scaling high-performing engineering teams in fast-growing startups or similarly dynamic environments.
  • Strong technical background (10+ years overall experience), with the ability to dive deep when necessary but also operate at a strategic level.
  • Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain world-class engineering talent, fostering a culture of ownership, learning, and impact.
  • Thrive in ambiguity—able to drive clarity, alignment, and execution even when navigating the unknown.
  • Obsessed with impact—you constantly push yourself and your team to achieve more, focusing on outcomes over output.
  • Relentlessly curious and always improving—you believe there’s always a better way and challenge the status quo.

Full-Time US Employee Benefits Include

  • Some of the nicest and smartest teammates you’ll ever work with
  • Competitive salaries
  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits
  • Equity in a hypergrowth startup
  • Flexible PTO
  • 401k
  • Parental Leave
  • Commuter Benefits (SF office employees)
  • WFH Stipend

Compensation

$180k-$265k base + equity + benefits

Compensation will be determined based on a candidate’s level of experience and location.

We consider several factors when determining compensation, including location, experience, and other job-related factors. At Scribe, we celebrate our differences and are committed to creating a workplace where all employees feel supported and empowered to do their best work. We believe this benefits not only our employees but our product, customers, and community as well. Scribe is proud to be an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
