Why do we need you? Well, we are looking for a Engineer Manager who will bring operational maturity, subject-matter expertise, and a strong drive to make an impact. You will report to the Head of Infrastructure and will be responsible for successful delivery of Infrastructure roadmap objectives, with the goal of providing a self-service platform that allows product developers to independently operate Calendly’s services.

A day in the life of a Senior Engineering Manager at Calendly

On a typical day, you will be working on: 

  • Ensuring the productivity, career development, and satisfaction of your teams
  • Enhancing our infrastructure offering by applying industry best practices and processes
  • Brainstorming solutions to, and refining the scope of, your team’s infrastructure work
  • Coaching, mentoring and onboarding new team members
  • Identifying and coordinating incident response, security reviews, and infrastructure training 
  • Identifying future technical needs and creating plans to meet them
  • Overseeing cross-functional initiatives with the engineering organization, and evangelize operational best practices
  • Providing input to help us continuously grow and improve

What do we need from you?

  • 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and/or software development
  • 2+ years in a management or technical lead role
  • Experience helping to make technical decisions and providing guidance to solve problems 
  • Extensive hands-on experience with GCP, Kubernetes, and PostgreSQL in large scale, highly available production environments
  • Deep hands-on expertise with Datadog and modern observability practices, including logging, metrics, tracing, and defining and managing SLOs
  • Experience designing, documenting, and driving scalable reliability practices, including standards, tooling, and processes 
  • A great communicator who can succinctly explain complex technical concepts
  • Availability for participation in on-call rotation, ensuring prompt and effective responses to business-critical alerts outside of regular working hours.

Tier 1 Salary Hiring Range
$276,379.20$334,906.56 USD
Tier 2 Salary Hiring Range
$253,347.60$306,997.68 USD
Tier 3 Salary Hiring Range
$230,316$279,088.80 USD

The ranges listed above are the expected annual base salary for this role, subject to change.

Calendly takes a number of factors into consideration when determining an employee’s starting salary, including relevant experience, relevant skills sets, interview performance, location/metropolitan area, and internal pay equity.

Base salary is just one component of Calendly’s total rewards package. All full-time (30 hours/week) employees are also eligible for our Top Performer Bonus program (or Sales incentive), equity awards, and competitive benefits.

Calendly uses the zip code of an employee’s remote work location, or the onsite building location if hybrid, to determine which metropolitan pay range we use. Current geographic zones are as follows:

  • Tier 1: San Francisco, CA, San Jose, CA, New York City, NY
  • Tier 2: Chicago, IL, Austin, TX, Denver, CO, Boston, MA, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, PA, Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, Miami, FL, and all other cities in CA.
  • Tier 3: All other locations not in Tier 1 or Tier 2
