As an Engineering Manager for Mechanical Analysis, you will provide leadership to a diverse technical team of Engineers and Contractors responsible for the performance of multiple mechanical analysis tasks including stress, vibration, acoustics, and seismic/dynamic. You will work collaboratively with other Engineering Teams, Business Leaders and Project Managers to ensure successful execution of engineering activities in support of the GVH BWRX-300 projects.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Engineering Manager you will:

  • Report to the Sr. Design Engineering Manager.
  • Provide technical and managerial leadership for the team.
  • Inspire, hire, coach and ensure the development of the team technical talent/depth.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationship with other internal engineering managers, business leaders, project managers and stakeholders.
  • Interface with external partners, customers, the NRC or other applicable country specific regulatory agency, as required on technical issues.
  • Provide leadership supporting performance and program management of assigned work and ensure on-time fulfillment of engineering commitments in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, industry standards and regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Provide the oversight and be responsible to plan, organize and manage the delivery of technical activities/tasks in support of engineering deliverables.
  • Responsible for Mechanical Analysis technical proposal writeups including scope of work descriptions, deliverable descriptions and schedules, technical exceptions and clarifications
  • Ensure that design requirements are incorporated into analyses and design documents
  • Provide guidance and manage external resources to ensure the quality of deliverables, enable flexibility and improved cost positions.
  • Responsible for maintaining teams strategic KC&T activities including individual development plans and team critical skill matrix and competence matrix 
  • Support commercial and marketing opportunities to develop new business opportunities.
  • Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the Company.
  • Support GVH initiatives, process improvement, simplification, and design to cost.
  • Support GVH Nuclear Energy quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating, and responding to corrective actions.

Eligibility Requirements

  • The preferred work location for this role is at the GEH Headquarters in Wilmington, NC but qualified remote candidates will be considered.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline or relevant STEM discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering design and/or project leadership.
  • This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees). GE Vernova will require proof of status prior to employment

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience performing structural analysis for reactor vessel, vessel internals and components requiring ASME Code compliance
  • Proven ability to be a liaison between organizations that are operating in separate geographic locations

  • Experience with project management skillset (communication, risk, planning/scheduling, change management)
  • Knowledge of USNRC licensing requirements
  • Understanding of and experience in the nuclear industry and technology
  • Experience with new builds in the power industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan, market and manage programs that further the knowledge, understanding and capability of the business
  • Experience creating an environment that supports individual creativity and group innovation.
  • Experience leading diverse teams

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $131,700.00 and $219,300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
