Position:            Engineering Manager, Robotic Systems & Systems Integration (job code 88703)


Duties:              Develop and own system-level engineering requirements derived from market, business, and product needs. Architect complex mechatronic and AI-driven systems across mechanical, electrical, controls, and software domains. Create and maintain Theory of Operations documents defining how all subsystems interact. Define and manage system interface specifications, communication protocols, and system safety architecture. Lead development of data pipelines, GPU training environments, simulation frameworks, and digital asset curation for robotic AI systems. Direct system-level prototyping that integrates perception, planning, control, and real-time robotics operations. Ensure scalability, security, and reliability of AI-enabled robotic systems in fast-changing production environments. Work across mechanical, electrical, controls, vision, and software engineering to ensure all subsystems operate as a cohesive, unified system. Lead major design reviews, including FMEAs, system safety reviews, integration reviews, and readiness reviews. Partner with Product Management to create multi-year automation roadmaps and translate automation goals into system architecture. Lead system-level regulatory and safety compliance efforts including UL, CE, functional safety standards, and robot safety 13849/62061. Establish frameworks for system reliability, availability, maintainability (RAM), and quality metrics. Lead and grow a multidisciplinary team of robotics, AI systems, and mechatronics engineers. Mentor engineers beyond their individual disciplines to foster systems thinking. Champion innovation and continuous improvement across the robotics and systems engineering organization. Present strategy, program status, and technical issues to senior and executive leadership. Telecommuting is allowed for this position.


Education

Required:           Master or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or related fields.


Experience

Required:           1 year experience in job offered or related occupations (e.g., Computer Vision Engineer).


Special

Requirements:     Must have experience with the following technologies:

  1. Designing and developing robotics camera systems software
  2. Developing depth camera software stacks and drivers, including features like auto-calibration
  3. Developing and integrating machine learning pipelines with seamless training and inferencing of new SKUs (stock keeping units), utilizing technologies such as Tensorflow and PyTorch
  4. Developing depth camera feature roadmaps
  5. Maintaining and enhancing in-house robotic applications
  6. Analyzing and mining large datasets including graph databases like neo4j towards making insight-driven algorithmic improvements
  7. Writing code using C, C++, and Python programming languages.
