Lead two teams (Consent Data & Privacy and User Data Management) as a manager-of-managers, owning execution and multi-year technical vision for user consent, data collection, storage, pipelines, access, retention, and compliance. Partner with Product, Data Engineering, and Legal to enforce consent and data governance at scale, adapt to evolving regulations, and drive architecture and platform solutions.

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

The Team

This role is responsible for the User Data & Consent subdomain within Identity Engineering, spanning two teams:

  • Consent Data & Privacy, which owns user consent management end-to-end from collection, policies and enforcement, storage and access policies.

  • User Data Management, which owns data collection experiences and practices, lineage, access control, and retention policy for Netflix's first-party user data.

The Role

We're looking for an experienced engineering leader to run these teams as a manager-of-managers, overseeing an Engineering Manager and partnering closely with 2 senior ICs who drive the architectural agenda across the group, while directly managing the Consent team.

You'll be accountable for near- and medium-term execution — keeping product consent experiences, the consent rules engine, consent/data storage, and data transport pipelines reliable and compliant — while also owning a multi-year technical vision for how Netflix manages first-party user data and consent responsibly at scale. A failure in consent signal propagation or a gap in data stewardship can create compliance exposure and slow roadmaps for partner teams, so this role carries risk and visibility well beyond a single team.

Standard playbooks won't fully apply. You'll need to be a strong partner, evaluate and adapt frameworks as legal requirements evolve, identify gaps in how consent is enforced downstream, and propose new approaches to data minimization — building platforms and systems that are both technically robust and compliant with regulations that weren't written with Netflix's scale in mind.

Desired Background and Skills
  • Proven experience managing, coaching, and developing high-performing managers,  leading EM-level and senior IC reports across multiple teams or a full department

  • Strategic and pragmatic thinker who can successfully drive teams and outcomes in a highly ambiguous and fast-changing regulatory and technical environment, without a fixed playbook to follow

  • Strong cross-functional partner with technical ownership, with a demonstrated ability to build trust and align priorities across Product, Data Engineering, and Legal/Privacy

  • Industry experience in building systems for user data collection and engineering from product UIs, platforms, data migration strategies, and data governance, as well as consent data.

  • System design and full-stack technical credibility, sufficient to earn trust with senior ICs and make sound architectural calls across product, policy, storage, and pipeline concerns
