As we continue our rapid growth, we’re looking for Engineering Manager to join our team and help us lead our incredible team of Engineers.

The Opportunity

As an Engineering Manager at ParentSquare, you’ll balance leading and mentoring a talented team of engineers with staying close to the technology itself. You have the technical depth to participate in deep architectural discussions, the leadership acumen to optimize team delivery, and the willingness to get hands-on when your team needs you.

Whether your technical expertise lies in building robust, user-facing product features or scaling secure, resilient cloud infrastructure, you will own the execution, performance metrics, and career growth for a dedicated engineering squad aligned with your strength

This role will include:
  • People Leadership & Mentorship: Own performance management, coaching, and career growth for a diverse team of engineers, ensuring high expectations for execution and professional growth are met.
  • Hands-on Contribution: Act as an active member of your team, performing development or technical tasks, reviewing code, and contributing directly to the ecosystem.
  • AI & Automation Forward: Strong familiarity with or passion for agentic coding practices. You actively utilize and advocate for AI-assisted development tools to accelerate prototyping, code generation, and team productivity.
  • Sprint & Process Execution: Build and lead your team to execute each sprint effectively, streamlining processes to ensure the right prioritization, urgency, and delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with the SVP of Engineering, Product Management, and peer engineering leaders to align your team’s milestones with company goals.
  • Team Scaling: Participate actively in the hiring process as we continue to attract, interview, and retain world-class talent.
  • Operational Excellence: Establish and track KPIs for your team to measure performance, code quality, and execution.
  • Security & Reliability: Ensure security processes, protocols, and technical best practices are kept up to date and on track within your team's domain.
Our ideal candidate will have the following:
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Leadership Experience: 3+ years of experience in direct people and team management, with a proven track record of mentoring junior developers and managing stakeholders.
  • Technical Background: 5+ years of hands-on experience in either backend software development (Ruby on Rails preferred) or cloud systems/infrastructure engineering.
  • Domain Expertise: Extensive experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • Developing, deploying, and integrating large-scale, high-traffic web applications.
    • Hardening application security, managing infrastructure-as-code, and working with AWS services.
  • Engineering Best Practices: Deep familiarity with design patterns, code reviews, unit testing, and agile or lean software development frameworks.
  • Tools: Proficiency with version control using Git.
  • Mindset: Growth-oriented, adaptive, and enthusiastic about keeping up with software industry trends, security innovations, and modern engineering standards.
