Role Summary:

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and inspire a team of engineers while driving the vision for technical strategy and execution. Your role will focus on building high-performing teams, delivering innovative solutions, and ensuring engineering excellence as we continue to scale our platform. You’ll partner closely with cross-functional teams to align engineering goals with organizational objectives, creating impactful solutions for our healthcare partners.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of engineers, ensuring alignment with Notable's mission and promoting a culture of ownership, innovation, and accountability.

  • Drive the technical direction of engineering projects by collaborating with product, design, and other business stakeholders, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.

  • Implement and manage engineering metrics such as team velocity, code quality, and successful deployments to continually improve team performance and effectiveness.

  • Facilitate processes within the team, promoting best practices in software development and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) methodologies.

  • Cultivate a talent pipeline by hiring and onboarding passionate engineers who align with our mission, and supporting their growth through mentorship and development opportunities.

  • Engage with complex technical challenges, breaking them down into manageable components, and collaborating across teams to develop robust, scalable solutions.

  • Support the establishment of best practices in code reviews, testing, and deployment to ensure high levels of system reliability and maintainability.

  • Foster an environment of collaboration by continually seeking feedback from team members and stakeholders, using insights to drive improvement and innovation.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience in software development, architecture, or related fields.

  • 3+ years of leadership or management experience in an engineering setting.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities with excellent coding and debugging skills across multiple programming languages.

  • Deep understanding of modern web application development, microservices architecture, and cloud technologies.

  • Proven track record of managing engineering metrics, including team velocity, delivery commitments, and code quality.

  • Experience in writing maintainable, well-tested, and reliable code, along with a strong focus on engineering best practices.

  • Passion for supporting product and design teams in developing comprehensive roadmaps and achieving organizational goals.

  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining high-performing teams in fast-paced, collaborative environments.

  • A proactive and innovative mindset, with the ability to inspire and drive change.

We value in-person collaboration and connection. For Bay Area–based employees, this role requires being in our San Mateo office at least three days a week. For remote employees, occasional travel to headquarters is expected for company-wide events and onsite gatherings.
