The Boeing Company is currently seeking an Entry-Level Versatile Technologist to join the team in Everett, WA; Seattle, WA, or Renton, WA.
The Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) Information Technology (IT) team is seeking a detail-oriented, quality-focused IT Airshow, Events and Exhibits Specialist and part-time IT Business Partner. In this role you will provide hands-on, face-to-face IT support for Boeing air shows, trade shows, customer events, and exhibits worldwide.
When not supporting events, you will work in our vendor warehouses in Seattle, WA, Renton, WA and Phoenix, AZ to maintain, repair, load, and test equipment to ensure readiness for the next event and contribute to the BCA IT Business Partner team in Everett, WA, supporting our BCA program IT needs and strategies.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a production-first mindset to deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality exhibit technology for Boeing events
  • Serve as a representative and advocate of Boeing's at live events, applying strong analytical and creative judgment, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and comprehensive knowledge of the Boeing brand
  • Perform frequent travel (domestic and international) and work in varied venue conditions with strict time and environmental constraints
  • Analyze computing and systems requirements for exhibit and event environments, and propose practical technical solutions
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain systems hardware, software, and components used in exhibits and temporary installations
  • Resolve hardware, software and configuration problems on-site under strict time constraints
  • Build, support, maintain and facilitate as host for simulator activities at events
  • Lead and collaborate with cross-functional, multicultural teams to resolve venue- and customer-specific issues
  • Provide creative technical solutions for complex or unique installation challenges, investigating and implementing new and emerging exhibit technologies while maintaining budgetary constraints
  • Coordinate logistics and temporary export of multimedia hardware and models to worldwide locations working with Supply Chain Logistics and Global Trade
  • Maintain awareness of International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) licensing and exemption practices as they apply to air and trade show operations
  • Operate and manage equipment at vendor warehouses to maintain and repair equipment post-event, schedule and track assets to multiple events, load and test software pre-event and package custom road kits including spares to support multiple events simultaneously
  • Participate in pre-planning meetings to determine proper technologies for events and evaluate software and hardware to ensure compatibility with environment and third-party rental systems
  • Document processes and share lessons learned to improve IT processes, tools, and techniques from an exhibit/event perspective
  • Provide face-to-face support with the BCA IT Business Partner team when not engaged in event planning, travel or support
  • Perform individual tasks with minimal supervision and ensuring demonstration of the Boeing Values and Behaviors as a representative of the Boeing company

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with hardware troubleshooting
  • Experience with direct, face-to-face interactions with customers
  • Experience with Customer Training
  • Experience in IT infrastructure, IT hardware and software, or managed services
  • Experience working with both Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Able to travel 50%-75% of the time
  • Willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing IT hardware and software in high-visibility, dynamic field or event environments
  • Experience with Windows Operating Systems (OS) inclusive of file systems (e.g. application installation/uninstallation, ProgramData, UserData), configuration (e.g. display settings), process management (monitor process health, memory usage), USB devices & debugging, multi-monitor configuration/debugging, networking (setting up, debugging) and networking tools (Putty/ssh, X server [Exceed])
  • Experience with Linux Operating Systems (OS) inclusive of file system (directory structure, *NIX group and user account permissions), process management (kill, ps, etc.), general bash shell commands/tools, *NIX text editors (vi/vim), networking (ifconfig, netstat), and familiarity with X Windows (as a user), some ability to debug
  • Experience with multimedia and graphics suites (PhotoShop, Video Editing Packages and Production Software (i.e, NovaStar Processor, Resolume Arena/Alley)
  • Experience with Audio Visual (AV) equipment, LED video walls, media servers, playback systems, and third-party rental equipment
  • Experience managing temporary exports and familiarity with ITAR, global trade, and customs processes
  • Experience creating and executing pre-event test plans and checklists
  • Experience troubleshooting USB devices and Windows display/monitor issues
  • Experience in hardware connectivity, including Ethernet cabling, USB hub configuration, and monitor cabling and setup
  • Experience with frequent lifting, staging and handling of electronic equipment and physical exhibit components
  • Experience with strong communication skills and ability to work with production, logistics, vendors, customers and external partner
  • Experience working under pressure, with strong improvisation and innovation skills for field problem-solving

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $62,050 - $83,950
