Title: Events Manager 

Reports to: General Manager 

Direct reports: Events Assistant Manager 

 

Responsibilities  

  • Involvement in all aspects of major club functions including F&B events, seasonal parties, major and minor golf events, retail events, etc. 

  • Create and execute planning, meetings, BEO’s and Critical Paths for all events to include floor plans, and timeline of event.  

  • Keep departmental managers and staff aware of functions, changes and expectations, through clear and frequent communication. 

  • Establish relationships with Members and encourage additional catering revenue.  

  • Uphold events and catering obligations related to the F&B budget. 

  • Quote prices (furniture, rentals, photographer, music, flowers, decorations, A/V, decorations) and formulate contracts detailing services to be provided.  

  • Ensure contracts/agreements for each event are signed prior to ordering any event items.  

  • In tandem with Member Services, responsible for the sales, marketing and promotion of all Member and Guest private events, functions and activities, ensuring that all Member/Guest expectations are exceeded, Member Retention goals are met and that Private Party and Member Relations plans are achieved. 

  • The Events Manager supervises/executes set-ups, breakdowns, and quality of service for all banquet events in the Club and private residences. 

  • Field any Member or Guest questions or concerns promptly and professionally.  

  • Assist Member Services as needed in the day-to-day operations of the department, when there are not events scheduled 

  • Work with Member Services and Food & Beverage Departments in the requisitioning of staff and scheduling for events, catering and banquets. In addition, will need to requisition contract labor staff from time to time. 

  • Works with Executive Chef to determine selling prices for catered events; oversees the development of contracts / agreements. 

  • Helps develop catering sales budgets; reviews financial reports and takes corrective actions as appropriate. 

  • Ensure all events are billed accurately and chits are turned in immediately. 

  • Maintain banquet storage along with all items used for private and catering events.  

  • Additional duties as assigned by management.  

 

Competencies for Success in the Role 

  • College degree preferred 

  • 1-2 years of prior hospitality, catering and event experience 

  • Communication – Must have an outgoing & well-spoken personality be able to clearly interact with members and guests 

  • Decision making - Applicant must be efficient, detail-oriented, self-motivated 

  • Coaching and mentoring other team members 

  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills are needed 

  • Collaboration – regularly works with other departments or projects 

  • Delivers results – getting things done on time and accurately

  • Strategic thinking 

  • Talent management – assess and manage the skills and talent on the team for continuous improvement 

  • Experience with Jonas, JAM, Word, Excel, Publisher, Email, and a willingness to learn new computer programs that the Club utilizes  

  • Maybe required to lift objects weighing more than 25 pounds 

  • Must be able to be on your feet extended periods of time 

  • Must be prepared to go above and beyond normal expectations on a daily basis as pertaining to the membership and their requests; whatever, wherever, whenever, no matter what it takes to make it happen

The Company’s good faith estimate of the salary rate expected to pay for this role is $95,000 to $105,000 annually and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
