The Executive Director of AI Transformation will serve as the enterprise leader and strategic architect for end-to-end, AI-powered Revenue Cycle transformation across large enterprise clients. This role is accountable for driving a step-change from fragmented, point-solution automation to a unified, AI-native platform that delivers measurable financial, operational, and competitive advantage.
This leader will own the transformation mandate across strategy, product, platform, and value realization - shaping a cohesive, scalable platform that integrates data, workflows, and intelligence across the revenue cycle. The role carries direct accountability for automation outcomes, portfolio investment strategy, and financial performance across the AI/Automation portfolio.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Enterprise Strategy & Transformation Leadership
- Define and lead the long-term AI and automation strategy for enterprise revenue cycle, translating market shifts, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics into differentiated, platform-based capabilities
- Drive the transition from siloed point solutions to a unified, AI-native platform, establishing a clear north star architecture and transformation roadmap
- Identify and close strategic capability gaps to maintain competitive advantage
Product Vision & Platform Ownership
- Own and evolve the multi-year product roadmap for AI-powered RCM solutions, aligned to enterprise growth, margin expansion, and workforce transformation priorities
- Lead the design and delivery of scalable, interoperable platforms leveraging generative AI, agentic systems, and advanced automation across legacy and modern architectures
- Establish platform principles including modularity, interoperability, data network effects, and reusable intelligence
Portfolio & Financial Accountability
- Own the AI/Automation capital portfolio, ensuring disciplined investment allocation, sequencing, and measurable ROI realization
- Drive enterprise outcomes including cost-to-collect reduction, automation rate improvement, revenue lift, and margin expansion
Execution & Enterprise Alignment
- Drive alignment across Optum, UHC, and UHG Enterprise stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment to deliver a unified automation strategy
- Lead cross-functional execution across product, engineering, operations, clinical, and commercial teams, navigating legacy constraints and change management challenges
- Ensure successful adoption and scaling of AI capabilities across clients and internal operations
Client & Market Leadership
- Partner with commercial and client leadership to shape large-scale transformation deals and influence enterprise client strategy
- Serve as a thought leader in AI-driven revenue cycle transformation with clients, partners, and industry forums
Team Leadership & Culture
- Build and lead high-performing product, platform, and automation teams
- Foster a culture of accountability, speed, measurable outcomes, and continuous innovation
- Elevate talent capability in AI-first product thinking, platform design, and enterprise-scale execution

Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of product and platform leadership experience, including deep experience in AI, automation, and revenue cycle transformation within large, complex healthcare organizations
- 7+ years of senior leadership experience managing enterprise-scale portfolios and multi-million dollar investments
- 5+ years of experience with building and scaling AI-native platforms (including generative AI and agentic systems) from concept to enterprise adoption
- 5+ years of experience with revenue cycle expertise with demonstrated P&L ownership and margin improvement outcomes
- 5+ years of experience leading large-scale digital transformation and platform modernization efforts
- Proven solid understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance frameworks
- Demonstrated executive presence with the ability to influence C-suite stakeholders and external enterprise partners
- Experience operating in highly matrixed, enterprise-scale environments with competing priorities
- Proven solid ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity in complex ecosystems
- Proven working knowledge of UnitedHealthcare and Optum business models
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
