As the Executive Director, Global Commercial Excellence Lead, at Gilead you will lead enterprise-wide transformation of global commercial capabilities to fundamentally improve how Gilead engages customers, launches products, and delivers impact across markets. This role sits at the center of global commercialization strategy, shaping how sales, marketing, and customer experience evolve in an increasingly AI-enabled and omnichannel environment.

You will operate with high visibility across global leadership, owning critical initiatives that influence business performance, launch success, and long-term capability building.

What you will do

Drive Enterprise Commercial Transformation

  • Architect and scale global commercial excellence frameworks across sales, marketing, and product launch

  • Transition pilot programs into sustainable, enterprise-wide operating models

  • Embed AI-enabled and data-driven capabilities into commercialization processes

Lead Adoption & Change at Scale

  • Define and execute global adoption strategies with measurable behavior and business impact

  • Ensure successful implementation across regions through affiliate co-creation

  • Drive change management for complex, cross-functional transformation programs

Elevate Customer-Centric Commercial Execution

  • Enable differentiated, customer-first marketing and omnichannel engagement

  • Partner with field leadership to improve sales execution and customer experience

  • Support high-impact, competitive, and successful global product launches

Build and Lead Global Capabilities & Teams

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team focused on sales, marketing, and launch excellence

  • Institutionalize best practices and scalable frameworks across the organization

  • Partner closely with Global Digital & Innovation (GDI) and Global Learning & Development (GCLD) to embed capabilities

Influence Enterprise Strategy & Alignment

  • Collaborate across Commercial, Medical Affairs, Legal/Compliance, and regional affiliates

  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on risks, progress, and opportunities

  • Bring external insights and benchmarking to ensure industry-leading solutions

What success looks like (6–12 months)

  • Clear enterprise adoption of core commercial excellence frameworks
  • Demonstrated improvements in launch execution and customer engagement
  • Scaled operating models replacing fragmented pilot initiatives
  • Strong alignment across global and affiliate stakeholders
Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 16+ years of relevant experience, OR

Master’s Degree and 14+ years of relevant experience, OR

PhD and 14+ years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep expertise in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical commercialization

  • Proven success leading large-scale transformation programs

  • Strong experience across sales, marketing, and product launch excellence

  • Demonstrated ability to influence in a complex, matrixed global organization

  • Experience with digital, AI-enabled, and omnichannel commercial capabilities

  • Track record of enterprise-level strategy development and execution

  • Strong leadership presence with ability to engage senior executives

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and change leadership skills

  • Global experience and enterprise mindset

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments

The salary range for this position is: $281,010.00 - $363,660.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
