About Salesforce

Salesforce is the #1 AI CRM, where humans with agents drive customer success together. Here, ambition meets action. Tech meets trust. And innovation isn’t a buzzword — it’s a way of life. The world of work as we know it is changing and we're looking for Trailblazers who are passionate about bettering business and the world through AI, driving innovation, and keeping Salesforce's core values at the heart of it all.

Ready to level-up your career at the company leading workforce transformation in the agentic era? You’re in the right place! Agentforce is the future of AI, and you are the future of Salesforce.

Senior Manager, Executive Marketing

Role Overview

The Senior Manager, Executive Marketing (CIO Focus) will own Salesforce’s executive-level marketing plan including thought leadership, content strategy and content development for the CIO persona. This role is responsible for shaping how Salesforce shows up with enterprise CIOs—establishing credibility, trust, and architectural relevance as organizations make once-in-a-decade decisions around agentic platforms.

This leader will help define the CIO narrative, develop a single source of truth for CIO messaging, and translate that point of view into high-impact content and integrated journeys across media, digital, events, and executive engagement. The role partners closely with Executive Events, Product Marketing, Sales, Media, and Digital teams to ensure consistent, technically credible, and outcome-driven messaging across every CIO touchpoint.

This is a highly strategic, exec-facing role focused on narrative development, content quality, and market influence.

Key ResponsibilitiesCIO Narrative & Messaging Ownership
  • Own the end-to-end CIO messaging and positioning strategy, aligned to Salesforce’s Agentic Enterprise narrative and grounded in security, governance, trust, and architectural integrity.

  • Develop and maintain the CIO Messaging & Positioning Document (MDP) as a living single source of truth (SSOT), synthesizing inputs from Product Marketing, Salesforce CXOs, CAB insights, customer proof points, and market research.

  • Define persona-specific outcomes, value propositions, and executive-level “recipes” that connect multiple Salesforce clouds into cohesive business outcomes for CIOs.

Executive Thought Leadership & Content Strategy
  • Lead the strategy and development of CIO-focused thought leadership content across formats and channels, including:

    • Executive white papers and research reports

    • Media and partner content series

    • Executive video and virtual engagement formats

    • Social and digital CIO content streams

    • CIO landing pages and owned web experiences

  • Ensure all content is technically credible, customer-led, and outcome-oriented, prioritizing proof over vendor claims.

  • Partner with key cross-functional teams to align existing executive content and programs to the CIO narrative, identifying gaps and extending or adapting content where needed.

Market Relevance & Headline Presence
  • Partner with Media, Comms, and Executive Events teams to shape CIO thought leadership for third-party stages and media environments, ensuring Salesforce shows up where CIOs already engage.

  • Guide the development of integrated digital and media content that extends reach beyond one-time moments and supports sustained market presence.

  • Contribute to recommendations on media partnerships and content investments based on CIO engagement, reach, and business impact.

Integrated CIO Journeys
  • Define the CIO integrated journey, sequencing content, media, events, and sales engagement to support executive decision-making over time.

  • Partner closely with Executive Events and Sales to ensure content, messaging, and follow-up actions are aligned across touchpoints, with clear ownership and handoffs.

  • Help templatize learnings from the CIO journey to inform future CXO persona strategies.

Measurement & Optimization
  • Partner with Marketing Ops and Analytics to define input and outcome KPIs for CIO engagement, including reach, account penetration, engagement quality, and downstream influence on pipeline (ETOP, MDP, MMA).

  • Use performance insights to continuously refine messaging, content mix, and channel strategy, scaling what works and evolving what does not.

Core Competencies
  • Executive Messaging & POV Development: Proven ability to craft compelling, credible executive messaging for senior technology leaders.

  • Strategic Content Leadership: Experience developing and scaling thought leadership across owned, earned, and paid channels.

  • CIO Acumen: Strong understanding of enterprise CIO priorities, including architecture, security, governance, data, and platform decision-making.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Ability to lead through influence and partner effectively across Product Marketing, Events, Media, Sales, Digital, and Research teams.

  • Business Impact Orientation: Comfort tying executive marketing efforts to measurable outcomes, not just engagement.

Key Skills & Qualifications
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editorial judgment, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into executive-relevant narratives.

  • Strong executive presence and confidence engaging with senior internal stakeholders and enterprise CIO audiences.

  • Ability to synthesize inputs from multiple sources (research, feedback, performance data, CXO insights) into clear recommendations and action.

  • Experience working on fast-moving, highly visible initiatives with senior leadership exposure.

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building new frameworks, templates, and strategies from the ground up.

  • Familiarity with enterprise technology, platforms, and ecosystem partnerships strongly preferred.

Role Differentiation & Partnership

This role leads CIO narrative, messaging, and content strategy, while partnering closely with an Executive Events leader who owns event execution, logistics, and media sponsorships. Together, these roles ensure Salesforce delivers deeply credible, content-rich CIO experiences that scale across channels and drive measurable business impact.
