Role Summary
The Fellowship Program Manager is responsible for the end-to-end administration, and continuous improvement of GM's MBA Fellowship Program, which provides selected employees the opportunity to complete a full-time, two-year MBA at leading business schools while remaining employed by GM.
Working within Global Talent / Global Leadership & Professional Development , this role partners closely with business leaders, HR, Talent Acquisition, external vendors, and university partners to manage candidate selection, program delivery, internship and post-program placement, and ongoing stakeholder communication.
Key Responsibilities
Program Design
  • Support the evolution of the MBA Fellowship Program strategy , aligning program objectives to GM's enterprise priorities and leadership development strategy.

  • Manage and execute program roadmaps, timelines, and annual cycles (application, selection, school placement, internships, and post-program roles).

  • Maintain and update program documentation , including program overviews, processes, policies, selection criteria, and participant communications.

Candidate Pipeline & Selection
  • Coordinate the application and nomination process , including launch communications, application windows, and FAQs for employees and leaders.

  • Partner with Global Talent, HR, and external vendors to execute a multi-step screening process (eligibility checks, performance indicators, essays, and external assessment inputs).

  • Facilitate selection governance , supporting reviews with functional leadership, HR, and senior stakeholders; coordinate offer communications and feedback for non-selected applicants.

Program Delivery & Participant Experience
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Fellows, providing structured touchpoints (e.g., bi-weekly or monthly check-ins), program updates, and escalation support throughout the MBA journey.

  • Coordinate summer internship planning and placement , working with HR and business leaders to define meaningful assignments aligned to development goals and enterprise needs.

  • Support the post-graduation placement process , partnering with HR, and business functions to define substantive roles, validate job descriptions and levels, and align timing of moves and relocations.

  • Ensure Fellows have access to appropriate sponsors, mentors, and networks that reinforce leadership development and cross-functional exposure.

Stakeholder & Partner Management
  • Build strong relationships with HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, business leaders, university partners, and external vendors supporting admissions coaching, assessment, or program operations.

  • Coordinate communications to EST and key stakeholders, including program updates, cohort summaries, timelines, and decision points.

  • Collaborate with Finance and HR to establish and manage budgets, tuition and fee flows, and relocation-related elements in line with policy and governance.

Measurement, Insights & Continuous Improvement
  • Track and report on program metrics , such as application volume, cohort makeup, school placements, internship outcomes, and post-program roles.

  • Partner with analytics and leadership development teams to evaluate program ROI , including retention, performance trajectories, and leadership pipeline impact.

  • Gather feedback from Fellows, leaders, and partners to identify improvement opportunities in selection, support, and placement; recommend and implement changes for future cohorts.

Governance, Risk & Compliance
  • Help ensure compliance with GM policies, code of conduct, and program agreements , including participant commitments and repayment expectations as defined in governing documents.

  • Maintain organized, accurate program records and documentation to support audits, leadership reviews, and future program decisions.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, Organizational Development, Education , or related field; or equivalent experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in program or project management , preferably within HR, Learning & Development, Talent Management, or University Relations.

  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-step programs with multiple stakeholders, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to tailor messaging for executives, people leaders, and employees.

  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail , with experience managing concurrent priorities and deadlines.

Preferred
  • Experience in leadership development, professional development, or high-potential talent programs .

  • Prior exposure to MBA programs, university partnerships, or early-career leadership pipelines (corporate or academic).

  • Experience working with external vendors (e.g., assessment providers, admissions coaches, or universities).

Compensation:
The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws.
The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate.
  • The salary range for this role is $71,000 - $109,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
