The Opportunity: Shaping the Future of Edge AI

At Code Metal, we aren't just building another software tool; we are creating the operating system for the edge. We provide an automated LLM-based workflow that empowers developers to deploy complex applications to edge devices with unprecedented speed. As AI moves from the cloud to the physical world - robotics, industrial IoT, and beyond - Code Metal is the bridge.

We are at a pivotal inflection point. We are looking for a Head of Finance who views "finance" not just as spreadsheets and audits, but as a strategic engine to scale a generational deep-tech company. This is a chance to join a strong team where your work directly influences our trajectory from a fast-growing startup to a global leader in AI infrastructure.

The Role

We need a "builder" in the truest sense. You will be responsible for taking our current foundation and architecting a world-class finance function. You’ll be the right hand to the leadership team, ensuring we have the capital, discipline, and strategic insight to scale from $10M to $100M+.

This isn't a "sit back and manage" role. We need someone scrappy, hard-working, and deeply technical who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty with accounting entries one hour and lead a board-level strategic planning session the next.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Scaling: Lead the financial transition from an early-stage startup to a scaled enterprise, managing everything from revenue forecasting to complex cap table management.
  • Operational Excellence: Build and oversee the entire accounting function (AP/AR, payroll, tax, audit). You’ll ensure our books are "Big Four" ready while maintaining startup agility.
  • Capital Allocation: Manage burn, optimize runway, and partner with the CEO/COO on future fundraising rounds and investor relations.
  • AI-Driven Finance: Leverage your technical background to implement cutting-edge AI tools to automate internal workflows, making our finance department a model of efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Work closely with Engineering and Sales to align product milestones with financial targets and go-to-market strategies.

Requirements
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3+ years in a high-growth startup leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in core business metrics and KPIs and hardware/edge-related business models.
  • Strong proficiency in modern finance stacks (e.g., NetSuite, Rippling, Mosaic, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills—able to distill complex financial data into actionable insights for the Board and the team.

Who You Are

  • Startup Veteran: You’ve been in the trenches. You have a proven track record of scaling a company from the $10M mark through significant growth phases.
  • Accounting Expert: You likely started in accounting or have a CPA. You understand the "why" behind the numbers and can build a robust compliance foundation.
  • Scrappy & Driven: You don't wait for a manual; you write it. You thrive in fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environments and possess a "no task is too small" attitude.
  • Technically Minded: You have a genuine interest in (or experience with) AI and deep tech. You can speak the language of our engineers and understand the unit economics of AI infrastructure.
  • Team-First: You are a low-ego, high-output collaborator who cares deeply about the mission and the people.

Benefits

Why Code Metal?

  • Impact: You will be a core member of the leadership team.
  • Innovation: We are solving some of the hardest problems in AI and hardware.
  • Culture: A high-intensity, high-reward environment where we value "the work" above all else.
  • Are you ready to build the financial backbone of the Edge AI revolution?
  • Great benefits package
