About us

At Roadrunner, we’re replacing the broken CPQ software that Sales teams have complained about, worked around, and given up on for years. Not improving it - replacing it. We’re building a new agentic stack called PQA - Prompt, Quote, Approve, designed for the enterprise, on a data model built for how pricing actually works today.

We’re Kleiner Perkins’ first incubation since Glean, led by second-time founders with successful exits, and a team of engineers from Snowflake, Databricks, Citadel, Meta, Robinhood, Brex, and so on. We’re in-person in San Francisco, and we’re just getting started.

What you'll do

  • Be Roadrunner's first finance hire — you'll own our financial health end-to-end and build the function from the ground up.

  • Set up the systems, reporting, and processes that give leadership a clear picture of where we stand and where we're going.

  • Own our financial narrative for the board and investors — runway, burn, growth, and what it all means for the business.

  • Be the finance partner to every team: helping Sales think about deal economics, helping leadership make headcount and budget decisions with real numbers.

  • Decide what you handle yourself and what you outsource — you'll have the judgment to know the difference and own the outcomes either way.

Example projects

  • Take over financial operations from the founder and build the processes so nothing falls through the cracks — then make it scale.

  • Build our first real FP&A model: budgets, scenario plans, and a headcount plan that gives leadership the numbers to make big decisions with confidence.

What you'll bring

  • Experience running finance at a high-growth startup — ideally as the first or only finance hire.

  • Equally strong as an operator and a strategist. You can get in the weeds and zoom out to the board level.

  • Good judgment about what to build, what to buy, and what to outsource — and the ownership to see it through regardless.

  • A real partner to the business, not a back-office function. You lean into the decisions, not just the reporting.

  • A driver, not a passenger. You create structure where none exists and are comfortable with ambiguity.

  • Based in SF or excited to relocate — we're an in-person team.

Bonus points if…

  • You've been the first finance hire at an early-stage company and know what zero-to-one feels like.

  • You've worn multiple hats — accounting, FP&A, RevOps, compliance — and know how they connect.

What we offer
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits for you and your family.

  • Lunch and dinner, as well as snacks and coffee to keep you energized.

  • Take what you need vacation policy.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
