Working under limited supervision, this position is responsible for providing proactive support in a variety of planning, accounting, reporting, and compliance needs. Successful candidate is able to carry out complex professional financial analysis assignments. This position interacts on a frequent and regular basis with leadership, senior management, and designated budget personnel for areas in research. This position integrates with other financial and research administration roles, to build effective support structure, while maintaining department continuity.

The salary range is $56,538 - $94,658. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

The candidate hired into this position will be able to work remotely and travel as needed to JAX locations. If the hired candidate lives near a JAX location and would like to work onsite, office space is available.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for financial analysis across campuses, including annual budget, forecasting, strategic planning, and other requests as necessary, ensuring accurate spending projections.
  • Initiates and drives the establishment and maintenance of professional, complex metrics and special/ad hoc reports using various software tools.
  • Assists and advises research program leads to allow for improved understanding and visibility with internal awards.
  • Analyzes effort allocation, program costs, and prepare adjustments, while ensuring accuracy, proper controls are in place and followed for department actions.
  • Serve as key contributor for report structure and data design.
  • Thoroughly and accurately analyzing budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual grants results and spending forecasts.
  • Complete special projects, conducting analytical reviews and developing reporting for the Chief Financial Officer as needed, including creating reports for Board presentations and creating reports for senior leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent of education & experience.
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or a related subject.
  • Ability to prepare and interpret a variety of financial statements, reports, and analyses for senior-level management.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and adhere to agreement terms and conditions."
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extensive computer skills when it comes to financial tools such as Excel ERP systems.
  • Ability to build strong, positive working relations across a number of departments.
  • Highly skilled and knowledgeable in word processing software, database and spreadsheet software and ERP systems.
  • Ability to set priorities, balance different projects, and meet deadlines.
