The Opportunity:

The FinOps Lead will oversee the development and execution of the organization's cloud financial management strategy. Working under the direction of the VP of Platform Engineering, this position will promote cost transparency, accountability, and optimization across cloud platforms while supporting business and engineering objectives. Initial priorities include establishing a FinOps Center of Excellence (CoE) and delivering comprehensive multi-cloud observability based on the FinOps Foundation Framework

Day in the Life:

Center of Excellence (CoE) Oversight

  • Establish and lead the organization's FinOps Center of Excellence (CoE).
  • Foster financial accountability across engineering, finance, and leadership teams.
  • Deliver training, guidance, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to strengthen cost awareness and FinOps adoption.
     

Cloud Observability & Tooling

  • Implement, administer, and optimize Flexera One and native cloud cost-management platforms.
  • Develop detailed dashboards that accurately allocate shared, containerized, and untagged cloud expenses.
  • Provide infrastructure leadership with actionable cost insights and unit economics reporting.
     

FinOps Framework Oversight

  • Drive cloud financial accountability by aligning spend to business value, optimizing costs through savings initiatives, and embedding governance controls into operational processes.
     

Collaboration & Governance

  • Develop and enforce cloud usage policies, tagging standards, and financial governance controls.
  • Partner with application development, network engineering, and infrastructure teams to align architectural decisions with cost objectives.
  • Adhere to established Change Management processes when implementing optimization initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or Finance desired. Equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., FinOps Foundation) are a plus.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in cloud financial management or infrastructure operations with a proven track record of managing enterprise public cloud environments. Experience leading cross-functional optimization initiatives is preferred.
  • Three (3) years in a senior or subject matter expert position.
  • Extensive expertise in AWS and Azure cloud cost and billing frameworks.
  • Advanced experience leveraging Flexera One, AWS Cost Explorer, and Azure Cost Management for cloud financial operations.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with SQL, data modeling, business intelligence platforms, and large-scale data analysis.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cloud governance practices, including tagging strategies, chargeback/showback models, and Kubernetes cost allocation.
  • Familiarity with private cloud environments, SaaS portfolio management, and enterprise licensing models is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to bridge the gap between engineering and finance teams .
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to diagnose complex billing anomalies.
  • Ability to manage multiple optimization priorities and infrastructure projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive, strategic thinker with a focus on continuous improvement and cultural transformation.

Pay Equity

$95,800.00 - $124,500.00

Actual Pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
