About Andrenam
We’re building sonar and sensing systems that bring light to the last dark domain: the ocean. Our team includes alumni from SpaceX, Anduril, ABL, Palantir and Qualia. We build full-stack—from physics to perception to product—with speed, elegance, and an unwavering commitment to the mission.

We believe the maritime domain will define the next century of geopolitics and global security. We’re here to shape it.

About this role
Andrenam is seeking a Firmware Engineer who is excited about advancing real-time maritime communication and autonomy. You’ll join a team building the distributed sensing network that acts as the central nervous system for maritime autonomy. This is a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge, multidisciplinary projects, supporting national defense and naval operations through deep-tech hardware innovation.

Our main engineering challenge is to develop a real-time data platform that can ingest, process, store, and analyze data from thousands of autonomous and semi-autonomous marine systems. This system must be built to seamlessly handle a wide variety of sensors, hardware interfaces, data sources, and AI-driven analytics, all with military-grade security and robustness.

Responsibilities:
  • Architect and develop firmware for a distributed marine sensor network
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to ensure in-house electronics designs will be viable and reliable from a firmware perspective
  • Drive technical decisions related to firmware design and contribute to the evolution of our technology stack
  • Perform end to end testing and validation of in-house electronics designs — from board bring-up to final integration with the full distributed system
  • Ensure that all firmware developed is secure and meets military-grade software standards

Basic Qualifications:
  • Proficient in C & C++ along with a foundational understanding of programming language concepts
  • Skilled in embedded Linux development — U-Boot, Linux kernel, kernel drivers, boot flow, and so on
  • Skilled in firmware development for bare-metal and RTOS MCU platforms
  • Familiar with CI/CD conceptually and have experience implementing such systems.
  • Familiar with various electrical debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and logic analyzers
  • Familiar with Python
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Familiar with FPGA development and performance analysis (Verilog/VHDL)
  • Experience with developing safety-critical software for aerospace or military applications
  • Experience with embedded distributed systems

Why join us?
Andrenam is building the infrastructure for autonomous maritime systems, supporting critical national security missions. You’ll be part of a nimble, ambitious team operating at the intersection of hardware, autonomy, and defense innovation.
We offer:
  • Access to a unique work environment, blending technology, maritime, and defense.
  • Long-term equity incentive program with significant growth potential.
  • Flexible PTO and paid holidays.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision insurance
  • 401k
  • Lunch and snacks provided

Salary Range
$140,000-$200,00

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
