\About the role:

Skydio is seeking an enthusiastic flight test engineering intern to help validate the next generation of Skydio products. Skydio builds innovative flying platforms and software to control them. This role will be focused on working on hardware validation during the prototyping phase and software validation vital for the prototypes' operation. This role requires a rigorous approach to field testing complex systems and their capabilities across a wide spectrum of environmental and operating conditions.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Create and run smoke and regression tests to validate system confidence
  • Run and optimize existing test plans to keep in line with the latest features
  • Track performance metrics across hardware builds
  • Capture and surface product limitation early in the development cycle to improve performance and market fit
  • Give valuable feedback from a user perspective on the early functionality of prototypes 
  • Validate SW changes to ensure a stable flying platform
  • Assist in collection of flight data for competitive benchmarking
  • Generate substantial amounts of logged flight data and media that will be used to characterize and improve system performance and reliability
  • Execute flights at our local facilities as well as strategic sites around the United States

What makes you a good fit:

  • Software QA/testing background
  • Part 107 Certification
  • Practical experience with UAS and capturing media
  • Understanding of UAS subsystems and their real world applications and performance
  • Basic mechanical and electrical system integration knowledge
  • Solid debugging of hardware and software systems
  • Experience operating Linux based systems
  • Demonstrated passion for things that fly (bonus points for Pilot's license)
  • Thorough communication and documentation skills
  • Interest in spending lots of time outdoors

Compensation Range: The hourly pay for this position is $41/hr*. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. In addition to base salary, Skydio full-time employees are eligible to enroll in our benefit plans and take advantage of a variety of incentives and stipends.

*For some positions the pay may be dependent upon the individual's regional location.
