Build and deploy full-stack customer-facing solutions for healthcare clinics. Partner directly with clients to understand workflows, clarify requirements, create technical specifications, implement solutions end to end, and support them in live environments. Feed recurring client needs into the core product while communicating effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. The role values strong portfolios, independent problem solving, adaptability, and comfort in ambiguous startup environments.

Flagler Health is building the clinical operating system for modern musculoskeletal care.

We partner with MSK provider groups and specialty clinics to help them grow, operate more efficiently, and deliver better longitudinal care across patient acquisition, clinical workflows, and ongoing patient engagement. Our platform sits at the intersection of care delivery and clinic operations, helping providers capture more value across the full patient lifecycle.

We’ve recently raised our Series B and are entering our next phase of growth.

Forward Deployed Engineers sit where the product meets the customer. You will work directly with clinics and provider groups to understand what they actually need, then build it. That means real engineering work, not configuration, and real client work, not tickets.

This role suits a full-stack engineer with the social instincts to be customer-facing. You will be in the room asking the follow-up question that surfaces the requirement nobody mentioned, then translating what you heard into a technical spec and shipping against it. The work moves quickly and the feedback loop is immediate: you will see what you built land in a live clinical environment.

We care more about what you have built than how long you have been building. A junior engineer with an impressive portfolio and strong communication skills is a real candidate here.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with clients to understand their workflows, constraints, and goals.

  • Ask the clarifying questions that turn a vague ask into a buildable requirement.

  • Translate client needs into technical specifications and implement them end to end.

  • Build customer-facing solutions across the stack using modern, high-level libraries and frameworks.

  • Deploy, support, and iterate on solutions in live client environments.

  • Feed patterns from client work back into the core product so the same problem doesn't get solved twice.

  • Represent Flagler credibly in technical conversations with non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, or strong demonstrated evidence of engineering ability.

  • 1 to 2 years of experience is acceptable for an exceptional learner. 2 to 5 years is also welcome.

  • An impressive portfolio. A link is required with your application and must be shared before the skills interview.

  • Full-stack capability that goes beyond JavaScript and TypeScript. You have used higher-level software libraries to build real customer solutions.

  • Strong communication skills and genuine comfort in client-facing settings.

  • Ability to understand client requirements and translate them into technical specs independently.

  • Fast learner who is comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with LiveKit, Twilio, or the OpenAI API.

  • Experience in healthcare, digital health, or another regulated environment.

Work Environment

  • NYC preferred. Excellent candidates can work remotely.

  • We have video on for our weekly team syncs and pair-coding/tech discussions. Camera is required to be on during meetings.

Our values

This is what you can expect of your teammates at Flagler:

  • Persistence + ownership of outcomes: We wear many hats and aren’t afraid to run through walls to solve hard problems.

  • Personal + professional growth: We push ourselves to learn new things and embrace challenges, even if it means that we sometimes fail.

  • Don’t take things personally: We value and react quickly to constructive feedback.

  • Speed is our ally: In the fast-paced world of startups, we understand the value of moving swiftly. We thrive on the adrenaline of working rapidly.

  • Be Right: We are highly detailed oriented and try to be right, a lot.
