Mission

TAR’s mission is to power intelligence for the world. We are building the world’s first off-grid power plant for data centers powered by renewable technologies.

We firmly believe AI should be built in the US for the benefit of all people. For that, power must be fast, clean and scalable. We are singularly focused on delivering GW-scale power faster than anyone has ever done, by rethinking every layer of the stack.

We vertically integrate to solve every bottleneck, from racking systems to power electronics to dispatch algorithms to on-site construction.

Leave your mark on the future of civilization-scale energy infrastructure.

Company

TAR is both a hardware and software company, we are building out massive, critical, physical infrastructure. TAR is working directly with one of the largest compute providers to scale and deploy 5GWs by 2028.

We operate on…

  • High ownership. High Agency. Own project end-to-end. Great people don’t need to be managed.

  • Speed. We achieve great things on incredible timelines. We push ourselves to go faster.

  • First principles. No ego. No hierarchy. Challenge every assumption.

  • Passion. Solving the energy problem is one of the largest challenges that faces the world now and in the future.

About the role

As Founders Associate, you work as an extension of the founders on the hardest problems in the business and make sure nothing operational slows the team down. You turn ambiguous, low-structure problems into shipped outcomes: project delivery one day, a financing workstream the next, standing up a new function from zero, or driving to the site to fix a supplier problem. This is an early-career to mid-level generalist role based in Austin or San Francisco, with travel to our West Texas site as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Drive delivery of GW-scale projects alongside our construction, procurement, and development teams, filling gaps so schedules hold.

  • Own special projects end to end, from ambiguous brief to delivered result, including standing up new functions from zero and running them until handoff.

  • Multiply the output of our engineering and technical leadership by removing blockers, handling logistics, and coordinating deployment and infrastructure tests.

  • Support complex equity and project financing transactions alongside the founders, owning the workstreams they hand you.

  • Help hire the team from junior roles to executives, and shape the culture the company scales with.

  • Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty and run operational topics independently so the rest of the team stays focused on the project.

  • Troubleshoot the problems each day brings, from finding a last-minute replacement supplier to driving to our West Texas site to resolve a contractor issue on the ground.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 1-5 years of professional experience in high-performance environments such as startups, consulting, banking, engineering, the military, or a strong tech-adjacent generalist background.

  • Very high agency and a track record of thriving in unclear, low-structure situations.

  • Demonstrated ability to own and deliver complex projects end to end.

  • Strong organization, sound judgment, and a bias for action.

  • Clear, direct communication with engineers, executives, suppliers, and outside counterparties.

Nice to have
  • Experience operating in or around a hardware, robotics, or deep-tech startup.

  • A track record of standing up new functions or processes from zero.

  • Comfort working alongside engineers and technical leadership.

Salary and Benefits
  • Up to $15K relocation bonus

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Health, Dental, Vision insurance

  • $1K monthly stipend for meals
