Company Description

We’re a venture-backed, stealth startup building an operating system for workforce transformation in complex, operations-heavy enterprises. Our platform maps work at a granular level, surfaces opportunities to streamline and automate, and embeds intelligent tooling directly into existing workflows. Think: measurable efficiency gains, happier teams, and a durable foundation for AI-enabled operations—delivered with enterprise-grade security and trust.

Role Description

You’ll be the first engineering leader and a true 0→1 builder. You’ll own the technical strategy, architecture, and initial product - shipping quickly with a bias toward reliability and measurable impact. You’ll work directly with early design partners, turn hard operational problems into elegant systems, and hire a small, senior IC team as we scale.

What you’ll do
  • Own the architecture: Design a secure, multi-tenant, cloud-native platform (data ingestion, storage, services, observability, auditability).

  • Ship the MVP: Stand up core modules for task/work mapping, workflow optimization, analytics/ROI, and an initial admin UI.

  • Apply AI/ML pragmatically: Add forecasting/optimization and safe agentic/LLM capabilities where they truly improve outcomes.

  • Work with customers: Run tight build–learn loops with design partners; translate real constraints into shippable product.

  • Raise the bar on trust: Establish security, privacy, and compliance-by-default patterns (e.g., SOC 2/ISO 27001 equivalents).

  • Build the team & practices: Recruit and mentor a lean, senior engineering group; set coding standards, CI/CD, SLOs, and delivery cadence.

  • Make smart tradeoffs: Balance speed and quality; choose the right tools, manage costs, and keep the roadmap crisp.

What great looks like
  • A reliable, secure, multi-tenant SaaS with clean integrations into existing enterprise systems.

  • Before/after instrumentation that proves value and a repeatable path from pilot to scaled deployment.

  • Clear modular architecture that enables automation and AI to compound value over time.

  • A high-performing 2–5 person senior IC team shipping predictably and partnering well with customers and product.

What You’ll Bring
  • 7–12+ years building cloud software; 3+ years owning architecture or leading small, senior teams.

  • Strength in backend/platform or full stack, plus comfort with data modeling, event-driven systems, and APIs.

  • Experience shipping in enterprise or regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, financial services, public sector) a strong plus.

  • Pragmatic grasp of ML/LLMs/agents and when they add real value (vs. complexity).

  • Product instincts, crisp communication, and a hands-on builder mindset.

  • Nice to have: optimization/OR exposure; workflow engines; integration platforms; data governance; experience moving from consulting/tooling to productized software.

Progress to Date

We’ve validated the product path with design partners and early prototypes, demonstrating how granular work mapping feeds analysis, redistribution, and automation. We’re now converting those insights into an admin-facing SaaS and expanding pilot footprint to inform scale.

Why are we excited about this
  • Massive, urgent problem: Complex enterprises are under pressure to do more with less—there’s real demand for measurable productivity.

  • Clear ROI narrative: Task-level visibility + workflow optimization create tangible, defensible value.

  • AI-native foundation: Ground-truth operational data makes automation and agents useful-not gimmicks.

  • Career-defining role: Founding scope, meaningful equity, and the chance to build category-defining infrastructure.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
