About Nunchux AI

Nunchux AI builds infrastructure that makes multimodal generative AI faster and cheaper to serve, and easier to build on. Founded by MIT PhDs Muyang Li, Yujun Lin, and Zhekai Zhang with CMU Professor Jun-Yan Zhu, Nunchux brings together deep research expertise and production systems experience. Our work is built on nearly a decade of research from MIT and CMU, including nunchaku project, whose models have surpassed 4 million downloads. We have top VC backing, and we build for enterprises and for millions of developers.

The Role

We are hiring our first full-time designer. The product is live, and we need someone to improve it while also making better launch, marketing, and brand materials.

This is a product design role with regular brand and marketing work. Our logo, core visual system, and website direction are already in place. You will build on them rather than start a rebrand.

What You’ll Do
  • Improve the current product: Find and fix UI/UX problems across the Nunchux product.

  • Design new features: Design the UI/UX for new features as they are developed and launched.

  • Build Modelverse pages: Design new model pages as Modelverse grows, including the UI/UX and the visual examples that show what each model can do.

  • Design launch materials: Create launch videos, posters, landing pages, product demos, and other campaign assets.

  • Maintain brand assets: Update and extend swag, presentation templates, event materials, and other company assets.

What You Bring
  • Product design experience: 3+ years of designing and shipping digital products. You can show work that went from an early idea to a live release.

  • Portfolio and visual craft: Solid UI/UX work, along with examples of launch pages, campaign assets, posters, motion work, or video.

  • Product and brand range: Comfortable switching between product UI and visual marketing work.

  • Tools: Strong in Figma and prototyping. Able to make or edit short product videos and motion pieces with the tools you prefer.

  • Working style: Able to take a loose brief, make a first pass, get feedback from founders and engineers, and finish the work without a large process around you.

Bonus Points
  • Experience with developer tools, B2B SaaS, APIs, infrastructure, data products, or AI/ML products.

  • Experience using image or video generation tools, or selecting the examples that show a model's strengths.

  • Experience as an early designer at a startup.

  • Comfortable building front-end prototypes and landing pages, or making small UI changes, when it helps move the work forward.

Why Join
  • First full-time designer: Help set the standard for product UI, launch design, and everyday brand work at Nunchux.

  • A live product: Work on an existing product, new features, and new Modelverse pages. This is not a concept deck.

  • Early stage, real impact: Join a fast-moving 15-person team. Your work will reach users and will directly shape what Nunchux looks and feels like.

  • Proven traction: Build on open-source work with more than 4 million model downloads, and on growing industry partnerships.

  • The team: Work with world-class researchers from MIT, Berkeley, and CMU, and with industry veterans from NVIDIA, AMD, Snowflake, and Adobe.

  • Compensation: $160,000 to $220,000 USD base salary, plus equity and comprehensive benefits that include health insurance and a 401(k). Actual compensation will depend on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications.

Location: San Francisco, CA. 4 days in office, 1 day remote.

Start date: As soon as available

Visa: We sponsor H-1B and other work visas for exceptional candidates.
