Fractional Controller

Location: Remote | Type: Part-Time, Contract or Service Provider

Accelerated Growth Studio (AGS) is a performance marketing agency helping DTC brands scale fast and profitably. We’re seeking a Controller to own and elevate our financial operations—balancing precision in bookkeeping with strategic oversight of client billing, cash flow, and agency profitability.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, understands service-based businesses inside out, and can confidently manage the full finance function—from monthly close to AR collections to profitability reporting.

What You’ll Own

This is a leadership-level position responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, process optimization, and the agency’s fiscal health. You'll report directly to the founding team.

Core Responsibilities

1. Financial Oversight & Bookkeeping Management

  • Own and maintain the integrity of our financial records in QuickBooks
  • Oversee transaction categorization, reconciliation, and month-end close
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for financial workflows and reporting cadence

2. Invoicing & Accounts Receivable

  • Create accurate monthly client invoices (based on retainers + % of ad spend)
  • Maintain rigorous AR processes—track, follow up, and escalate late payments
  • Manage client retainers, apply credits, and optimize collections strategy

3. Accounts Payable & Payroll

  • Approve and schedule vendor payments, subscription renewals, and contractor payouts
  • Oversee biweekly payroll and 1099 compliance for team and freelancers
  • Manage year-end filings (W-2, 1099) in partnership with HR/payroll providers

4. Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
  • Deliver insights on client-level profitability and margin analysis
  • Track agency performance KPIs and cost center efficiency

5. Cash Flow & Strategic Finance Support

  • Monitor agency cash runway and make recommendations to optimize burn
  • Support forecasting and budgeting in collaboration with the executive team
  • Identify opportunities to improve margin, reduce costs, or reallocate resources

6. Tax & Compliance Support

  • Ensure all financial records are audit-ready and tax compliant
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors for smooth quarterly and year-end filings
  • Maintain clean documentation of receipts, contracts, and financial correspondence

7. Systems & Automation

  • Maintain QuickBooks and integrate with CRM, PM tools, or Zapier as needed
  • Evaluate and implement financial software/tools that support efficiency and scale

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in financial management, preferably in an agency, consultancy, or service-based business
  • Deep experience managing AR/AP, payroll, invoicing, and financial reporting in Quickbooks
  • Ability to generate invoices from complex client fee structures (retainer + variable) in QB
  • Track record of improving financial systems, reducing DSO (days sales outstanding), and enhancing reporting quality
  • Excellent working knowledge of QuickBooks Online, GSuite, and Excel
  • Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable advising on financial strategy
  • Bonus: Experience with Gusto

This Role Is Right If You...

  • Want ownership over a lean finance function without bureaucratic friction
  • Can toggle between tactical execution and high-level financial insight
  • Have the discipline of a bookkeeper, the rigor of a controller, and the instincts of a CFO

Want to help shape the growth of a high-performing agency that values accountability and speed
