💻 The Role

We are looking for a strong Fraud Incident Commander who will work across our Trust & Risk, Engineering, and Product teams to drive incident management and risk efforts. You will be embedded within the Cybersecurity Perimeter Fraud Team and partner with leadership across the organization to strengthen Whatnot’s trust and risk management.

  • Manage high-pressure situations, influence short & long term priorities and help safeguard customers through proactive incident handling.

  • Manage and improve Whatnot’s Trust and Risk incident response including intake, triage, incident management, and reporting

  • Lead cross functional teams in the remediation of Trust and Risk incidents

  • Document incident timelines, impact details, and steps taken for mitigation and resolution, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.

  • Drive the Trust and Risk roadmap, strategy and execution of cross functional initiatives.

  • Identify and deliver on efficiency improvements for Trust & Risk to support the business.

  • Drive clarity around technical programs, ensuring alignment of engineering roadmap, product strategy and non technical partner orgs for major cross functional initiatives.

  • Do whatever it takes to ensure the engineering team is operating effectively, unblock them and make sure they can move at a rapid pace.

  • Drive strategic initiatives across the company as needed.

US Based:

We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City or Seattle hubs.

As our next Fraud Incident Commander you should have 6+ years of relevant experience, plus:

  • Experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary, and highly visible technical and operational initiatives across the company.

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, identify trade-offs, and make decisions with limited information in high-pressure situations.

  • Experience building roadmaps, project/release plans with a strong understanding of dependency management.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to work with key stakeholders to define key business questions and to build data sets that answer those questions.

  • Entrepreneurial drive and proven ability to achieve stretch goals in an innovative fast-paced environment.

  • Startup experience at a high-growth company.

  • Excellent written and oral business communication and people skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.

💰Compensation

$180,000/year to $230,000/year + benefits + equity

The salary range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits (more details below) or equity.

    • 16 weeks of paid parental leave + one month gradual return to work *company leave allowances run concurrently with country leave requirements which take precedence.
