About Mental Wellness Center

The Mental Wellness Center is a leading nonprofit organization in Santa Barbara, California, dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by mental illness through education, housing, and community-based services. MWC plays a critical role in the region's mental health ecosystem, working collaboratively with public agencies, healthcare providers, housing partners, and community organizations to create a more responsive and compassionate continuum of care.

The Role

MWC is seeking a warm, dependable, and organized Front Desk Coordinator to serve as the first point of connection for clients, family members, community partners, vendors, and visitors.

This position is a great fit for someone looking for meaningful part-time work with a consistent 20-hour schedule and the flexibility to maintain balance outside of work. Rather than being focused on rapid advancement or building a traditional career path, this role offers an opportunity to use your skills, stay connected, and give back to the Santa Barbara community through work that supports an important mission.

Why You May Love This Role

  • A flexible, part-time schedule of approximately 20 hours per week
  • Work scheduled primarily during regular business hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • An opportunity to make a meaningful contribution without the demands of a full-time position
  • Regular interaction with clients, families, staff, and community members
  • A welcoming, people-centered environment
  • Varied work that combines front-desk service, organization, and administrative support
  • The chance to support an organization dedicated to mental health and community well-being

What You’ll Do

As the Front Desk Coordinator, you will help create a welcoming, professional, and organized environment for everyone who connects with MWC. Responsibilities include:

  • Greeting and assisting clients, visitors, vendors, and community members
  • Answering and routing incoming calls and providing general information
  • Connecting individuals with the appropriate MWC programs, services, or staff
  • Managing mail, deliveries, conference room scheduling, and reception materials
  • Supporting basic administrative and bookkeeping tasks
  • Maintaining an organized and welcoming front-desk and common-area environment
  • Assisting with meetings, events, and organizational projects as needed
Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is approachable, dependable, service-oriented, and comfortable interacting with people from a variety of backgrounds. You can remain calm when the office is busy, manage interruptions with professionalism, and take pride in helping things run smoothly.

Qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer-service skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Previous front-desk, receptionist, customer-service, or administrative experience preferred
  • Experience in a nonprofit, healthcare, behavioral-health, or client-centered setting is a plus

Schedule and Availability

This is an in-person position scheduled for approximately 20 hours per week during MWC’s regular business hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional evening availability may be needed to support organizational meetings or special events.

If you are looking for flexible, meaningful work where your presence, organization, and kindness can make a difference each day, we would love to hear from you.
