Why Blee:

Blee is an AI-first marketing content compliance platform. PayPal, NerdWallet, and Brex already trust us. We're YC-backed, founded by an ex-Adobe marketing ops leader and former lawyer, and we're defining a category that didn't exist two years ago—across Fintech, Financial Services, CPG, Travel, and Life Sciences..

With offices in San Francisco and New York, we value in-person work but offer remote-opportunities for the right people. No matter where you join us, you can expect quarterly off-sites and opportunities to join other offices when you feel it’s important. You’ll be joining a team that values clarity, ownership, and shared responsibility—and is focused on building something that genuinely improves how teams work.

The Role

This is a Full Stack Engineer role for a strong generalist who thrives on building things to spec and solving difficult implementation problems. While you'll work across the stack, you'll spend the majority of your time on backend services, database design, and infrastructure — building the foundation that powers the platform. You will take product requirements and turn them into polished, production-ready features, working closely with engineering leadership, product, and customer-facing teams.

What You'll Do

  • Build features end-to-end from spec – Take detailed product requirements and deliver complete, tested implementations across frontend and backend

  • Design and maintain database schemas – Write migrations, optimize query performance, and ensure data integrity at scale

  • Build and improve backend services – Develop APIs, data pipelines, and core platform services

  • Own infrastructure work – CI/CD pipelines, monitoring/alerting, deployment automation, and reliability improvements

  • Solve complex implementation challenges – Debug thorny integration issues, optimize performance bottlenecks, and architect reliable solutions

  • Troubleshoot production issues – Diagnose and resolve incidents across the stack with a focus on reliability and uptime

  • Write and maintain automated tests – Unit, integration, and e2e to ensure production quality

Who You Are

  • A reliable, execution-focused engineer who takes pride in getting things built right

  • Comfortable working across the full stack but especially strong on the backend — databases, APIs, and infrastructure are where you do your best work

  • Deep comfort with relational databases, indexing strategies, and query optimization

  • Experience reasoning about system reliability, scaling, and observability

  • Methodical and detail-oriented — you follow specs carefully and raise flags early when something doesn't add up

  • A clear communicator who can work effectively with PMs, designers, and customers

  • Quality-driven; your code is tested, reviewed, and production-ready

  • Excited to work in a small team where your contributions are immediately visible

Who You'll Work With

You will work directly with Blee's engineering and product leadership, collaborating closely with the PM, engineering team, and customer-facing teams.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of full-stack experience with a backend emphasis (Python/Node.js + React/TypeScript preferred)

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar), containerization (Docker), and IaC tools (Terraform, Pulumi, etc.)

  • Shipped features in a fast-paced startup environment

  • Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, system design, API design, DB optimization

  • Familiarity with observability tooling (Datadog, Sentry, etc.) and production incident response

  • CI/CD, testing frameworks, and production monitoring experience

  • Based in SF or NYC & willing to come into the office 3 days a week

Nice-to-Have

  • Advanced SQL skills — schema design, query optimization, migrations at scale

  • Experience building a Figma plugin

  • Experience building a Chrome extension

  • Experience with Adobe UXP/CEP plugin development

  • Experience building Office Add-ins (via Office.js)

  • AI/ML integration experience (model serving, prompt engineering, LLM features)

  • Legaltech, adtech, or compliance tooling background

How We Work:

We have offices in New York and San Francisco and value in-person collaboration, but we're open to remote for the right person. Wherever you're based, expect bi-annual off-sites and the chance to spend time in our other offices when it matters.

What You’ll Get:

  • Competitive salary and equity package

  • Bi-annual get-togethers

  • Fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Free access to OneMedical (US Only)

  • Company-paid life insurance (US Only)

  • Company-sponsored 401k + matching (US Only)

  • Flexible time off (with mandatory 15 days off)

  • Financial support for work-adjacent learning opportunities

  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
