About Baselayer
Trusted by 2,200+ financial institutions, Baselayer is the intelligent business identity platform that helps verify any business, automate KYB, and monitor real-time risk. Baselayer’s B2B risk solutions and identity graph network leverage state and federal government filings and proprietary data sources to prevent fraud, accelerate onboarding, and lower credit losses.

About the Role
We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to build and scale Baselayer’s core product experiences, including our customer-facing console and website. You will work across frontend and backend systems to deliver reliable, high-performance functionality in a regulated environment, with a strong emphasis on security, scalability, and clean execution.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who takes ownership, moves quickly, and cares deeply about building durable systems and high-quality user experiences.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain the Baselayer website and customer console, including the underlying architecture and core user workflows

  • Design and implement backend services and APIs that support high-volume identity and KYB workloads

  • Improve platform foundations to support future product expansion and advanced data and ML-driven capabilities

  • Ensure systems meet strong security, privacy, and compliance standards appropriate for KYC and KYB environments

  • Optimize system performance and reliability across services, data access, and user-facing workflows

  • Write tests, debug issues, and monitor services to maintain quality, uptime, and predictable behavior as the platform scales

  • Partner with Product and Design to ship features that are thoughtful, polished, and maintainable

About You
You want to learn fast, take ownership, and do work that matters. You are not just doing this for the win. You are doing it because you have something to prove and want to be great.

You have strong engineering fundamentals, a high bar for code quality, and the ability to navigate ambiguity. You take pride in building clean, maintainable systems and shipping work that holds up under scale.

Required Experience and Skills

  • 2 or more years of experience in full stack or backend engineering

  • Strong experience with Python and modern web development using TypeScript and JavaScript

  • Experience building and maintaining production APIs and web applications

  • Comfort working with large-scale data and optimizing performance for high-volume systems

  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard for maintainability, testing, and reliability

  • Ability to work across different levels of abstraction and move between product and infrastructure concerns

  • Proactive, self-directed mindset with strong ownership and follow-through

What Sets You Apart

  • Experience working in regulated domains or with security and compliance requirements

  • Strong product instincts and the ability to build great user experiences end-to-end

  • Highly feedback-oriented with a desire for continuous improvement

  • Confident problem-solver who navigates the unknown and ships solutions

Work Location

  • Hybrid in SF, in office 2 days per week

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range of $122,000 to $187,000

  • Equity package

  • Unlimited vacation

  • Fully paid health insurance, dental, and vision

  • 401(k) with company match
