Build and maintain HealthLeap's clinician-facing dashboard and backend services. Own features end-to-end, handle messy clinical data and explainability, implement feature flags and auth at scale, and ship production systems deployed in major hospitals.

About Healthleap

Every day, millions of hospitalized patients who need intervention are missed because clinicians simply can't see everything. HealthLeap is building the AI operating system that helps care teams identify these missed patients, enabling them to improve health outcomes and generate millions of dollars. HealthLeap is changing what is possible: closing gaps that traditional workflows and clinician capacity could never.

Over the past year, we've grown contracted revenue more than 13x, expanded rapidly across leading health systems, and now help care teams identify patients across millions of inpatient encounters.

We're ~25 people. >$32M raised. SF-based, hybrid-friendly. And, we're delivering results that are changing lives.

About the Role

Build the product clinicians rely on every morning.

HealthLeap's dashboard is the first thing dietitians open at Cedars-Sinai and Penn Medicine. It shows them which patients need attention, surfaces the right clinical data, and helps them act fast. You'll build the interfaces that make this possible - and the backend services that power them.

Why You

You've taken products from idea to real users, more than once. You talk to the people who use what you build, work out what matters, and ship something they love. You have an eye for how data and interfaces should look and feel. Startups energize you.

What You'll Do
  • Own product surfaces end to end, from talking to clinicians to shipping

  • Build a modern experience for clinicians so they find what they need in seconds, instead of the hours they lose to it today

  • Launch new conditions 0 to 1, each one a new product on the same foundation

  • Build our analytics product, with data visualization people trust and act on

  • Ship directly to production at hospitals like Cedars-Sinai, Penn Medicine, and Houston Methodist

What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years building production web applications, strong on the frontend and the backend

  • Strong React, a strong eye for design, and a knack for making complex data intuitive. We don't care which charting library you use.

  • Real product sense: you decide what to build, not just how

  • A portfolio of products you took from idea to real users

  • You've built things harder than CRUD: pipelines, distributed systems, real-time, or similar

  • Sharp with data itself: you reason about what the numbers mean and never ship a misleading chart

  • Solid SQL and schema design

  • You move fast and own outcomes

What Will Make You Stand Out
  • You've founded a startup

  • Background in healthcare or clinical software

  • You use AI tools deeply to move fast

This Role Is NOT for You If
  • You wait for a spec before you start. We figure it out as we go.

  • You've only built CRUD apps or marketing sites.

  • Close-enough numbers are fine with you.

  • You're looking for a 9-5 with predictable hours. We care about deep work and deep rest (we have a minimum leave policy), but when a hospital go-live is on the line, we show up, even if that means a 60+ hour week.

Interview Process

Our interviews look like the real job. No leetcode, no algorithm puzzles. You use every tool you'd normally work with, AI included.

  1. Intro call – Get to know each other

  2. Technical 1 – System design

  3. Technical 2 – Live coding

  4. Onsite – Meet the team in SF

Decision the same week as the onsite. We respect your time. If there's a fit, you'll know fast.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $175,000 – $275,000 base

  • Equity: Meaningful ownership in an early-stage company

  • Healthcare: 100% of premiums covered

  • PTO: Unlimited, with a recommended minimum of 20 days

  • 401(k): 4% match

  • Equipment: Laptop + budget for your home office

Location

San Francisco, in person. Default is every day; flexibility is built in, not bolted on. No tracking and no approvals - drop “wfh today” in Slack when you need to. The rule of thumb is ~32 hours a week in the office. We judge output, not hours.

If you're passionate about applying frontier AI to real-world impact, join us in building healthcare's future.

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
