As a Software Engineer II – Java Full Stack Developer (AWS, AI-assisted development) at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank , you will serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You will be responsible for delivering critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas and business functions in support of the firm’s objectives.

 Job responsibilities

  •  Apply Agile software delivery practices to plan, build, test, and deliver high-quality software.
  • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using Java/Spring Boot for backend services and modern front-end frameworks
  • Build and operate cloud-ready services on AWS using a mix of container-based and serverless patterns (e.g., ECS/EKS and Lambda), with strong focus on security, resiliency, and observability (IAM fundamentals, logging/metrics/alerting).
  • Execute standard software engineering practices including solution design, development, troubleshooting, testing, and deployment, with consideration for upstream/downstream dependencies.
  • Contribute to engineering excellence through code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD practices, and secure coding standards.
  • Leverage enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools to accelerate coding, refactoring, test creation, troubleshooting, and documentation—while validating outputs through peer review, automated tests, performance considerations, and security standards; share reusable patterns and learnings to improve team effectiveness.

  

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

  • 3+ years applied experience in software engineering; strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.
  • Hands-on front-end experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, and React or Angular 
  • Practical experience building and deploying applications on AWS in a mixed environment (containers and serverless); operational best practices (monitoring/logging).
  • Experience with SDLC toolchains (Git, build tools, CI/CD pipelines) and automated testing practices; familiarity with application resiliency and security fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools (like co-pilot, ChatGPT, Claude Code) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security; understanding of responsible use and data sensitivity.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and a continuous-learning mindset—eager to learn new technologies and frameworks, embrace change, and contribute to an innovative and collaborative team culture.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CloudFormation/CDK), Docker/Kubernetes, and cloud-native development patterns.
  • Familiarity with UX concepts such as responsive design and accessibility.
  • Exposure to microservice architecture
