WHO WE ARE:

ActBlue is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating cutting-edge technology that fuels Democratic victories and enables progressive causes to thrive.

Our vision is simple: building change through the power of people. Since our founding, we’ve been building innovative solutions to revolutionize grassroots fundraising – if you’ve donated to a Democratic campaign or a progressive organization online, you’ve probably used our platform! We believe in putting power in the hands of small-dollar donors by helping thousands of groups — from local candidates to national movements — mobilize their communities and create a lasting impact. Every member of our team is deeply committed to advancing our shared mission and core values. Together, we are shaping the future of democracy.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

ActBlue is seeking undergraduate students who are passionate about the intersection of politics and technology to join our internship program. If you're excited about empowering small-dollar donors to drive meaningful change, we want to hear from you! We aim to help our interns gain knowledge, skills, and abilities that will serve them professionally going forward. Interns will receive training and mentorship in planning and executing activities and assignments. Interns have access to a team and direct manager to support work and goals.

We offer two intern tracks:

ActBlue Tech Interns support our engineering and product departments, helping to build and scale our products to meet the needs of our clients. STEM majors are preferred, but all are encouraged to apply.

ActBlue Business Interns support departments throughout the organization, including Customer Service, Communications & Marketing, and Account Management. All backgrounds and majors are encouraged to apply.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Projects will vary based on the department to which you are assigned but may include the following:

ActBlue Tech Interns:

  • Assist senior staff members in developing applications.
  • Document and test new applications and features.
  • Research and investigate a wide range of technical issues.
  • Proactively learn about new technologies.

ActBlue Business Interns:

  • Provide administrative support to staff under the direction of the intern supervisor for their assigned department.
  • Participate in projects and programs designed to develop the intern’s professional skills and benefit the organization.
  • Join and contribute to department meetings.
  • As needed, conduct original research and prepare findings.
  • Build a strong cohort with other ActBlue interns and meet regularly to network and collaborate.
  • Interact directly with colleagues, clients, and/or other external constituencies as needed for planning or problem-resolution.
  • Work on other job-related tasks as needed.

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program with at least one full academic year remaining after the internship period.
  • Tech Interns: Computer science, or other STEM majors, or folks with exposure to and interest in technology, preferred.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and systems.
  • Strong commitment to ActBlue’s mission.
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week from May 26th, 2026, to August 14th, 2026.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Join us for a unique and rewarding remote undergraduate internship experience! We are accepting applications on a rolling basis. We encourage interested applicants to submit their applications as soon as possible.

The application process may include:

  • Resume
  • Phone interview (30 minutes)
  • Final Zoom interview with the department (45 minutes)

Please note that you will have time to ask questions during each of the interview stages — we want to ensure that you have a chance to learn more about this role throughout the process!

LOCATION AND COMPENSATION:

This posting is for a temporary paid internship ($20 per hour). Interns over the age of 21 have the option of opting into ActBlue’s 401k program. ActBlue is equipped to have you onboard and work remotely from your home if you are hired for this role.

ActBlue is currently authorized to support remote hourly employees in Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin.

ActBlue is unable to sponsor work visas at this time.

BACKGROUND CHECKS

As part of our hiring process, ActBlue will conduct a background check at the time of offer. This will be completed in compliance with applicable laws and will not be initiated without your consent.
