Job Description:
Location: This position is remote friendly provided that the candidate resides in one of the following markets: Santa Fe, NM; Denver, CO; Las Vegas, NV; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; New York, NY or Los Angeles, CA.
Compensation: The salary range for this position is $72,160 to $88,560. Compensation may vary based on location and experience.
Deadline: The deadline for submitting applications for this position is May 15, 2026. Meow Wolf reserves the right to extend this deadline if needed.
The General Accountant is an integral part of the Meow Wolf Accounting/Finance Team. The position reports to the Accounting Manager and works alongside Senior and Project Accountants, Accounts Payable, and Finance.
The ideal candidate will be organized, self-motivated, enjoy taking on assigned tasks and be flexible to the exciting nature of a growing company. Will be responsible for performing a range of accounting and clerical tasks for Accounting/ Finance and other departments in a timely manner. Will effectively utilize standard software applications including Workday, Google Suite, Excel, etc. Will have the collaborative skills needed to create successful processes, meticulous attention to detail, and a sense of humor. This position offers a great opportunity for progression in a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Cash management and banking procedures including deposits, wires and transfers
Revenue recognition, accounts receivable, lease and loan accounting
Monthly and annual financials closings, as well as assistance in budgeting and forecasting
Providing financial information to cost center managers and directors while training company staff on processes and procedures as well as financial systems
Preparation of complete and accurate balance sheet reconciliations
Developing, maintaining, and training processes, policies and procedures
Assisting the Accounting Manager with the annual audit and special projects
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Associate degree in accounting, or in a related specialization.
3-5+ years’ experience in general ledger accounting, or similar.
A strong understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles.
Knowledge of financial statement preparation and internal controls.
Familiarity in analyzing financial reports, providing insights, and catching discrepancies.
Proficiency in accounting and business management software(s); Workday or similar platforms
Well-developed interpersonal skills; both verbal and nonverbal.
Discretion regarding sensitive or confidential information.
High level of computer literacy; Excel, Google Suite, etc.
Possession of a service center mindset.
Ability to collaborate to create processes that both fulfill the requirements of accounting and the sometimes-atypical activities of other departments.
Experience working in a creative and dynamic organization is preferred.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and scanners.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position that requires the ability to work a flexible schedule. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
