General Accountant

As the General Accountant on the Insurance Accounting team, you are a crucial team player who contributes to the team’s objective of timely and accurate reporting. You are responsible for your assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting tasks as well as ad-hoc or special projects that arise, which are typical given the regulated nature of reporting.

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintain the Regulatory Calendar by completing tasks and filings by the prescribed deadlines and keeping status updated.

  • Process invoices accurately and timely by creating requisitions and submitting to Accounts Payable.

  • Assist with month-end close by (1) running system reports, (2) preparing journal entries, (3) preparing account reconciliations, and (4) completing journal entries log. Research and resolve reconciliation issues and perform follow-ups, as appropriate.

  • Prepare assigned quarterly and annual statutory financial statement sections accurately and timely.

  • Perform other month end duties and assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, reports, and other data required on a timely basis.

  • Complete ad-hoc projects and other duties as assigned by management, including requests from outside departments.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related field preferred or combination of education with 1 – 2 years general accounting experience.

  • To thrive in this role, you will have experience in a medium or large, fast-paced company, working in heavy deadline driven environment

  • You will need strong verbal and communication skills.

  • You will have to be well organized and detail-oriented with ability to multi-task and manage several deadlines.

  • Prior knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office products and ERP systems is a plus.

The starting pay range for this position is:

$28.93 - $38.53
