Position Overview

The Yahoo Communications team is looking for a Global Communications AI Adoption Lead, a newly created role that sits at the intersection of communications strategy, data, and emerging technology. This person will be responsible for advancing how Yahoo tells its story, reaches audiences, and anticipates change in an AI-mediated world.

This leader turns complexity into clarity, using Artificial Intelligence, data, and audience insight to challenge legacy approaches, elevate storytelling, and drive measurable impact across global communications. Beyond scaling practical AI use cases, this role helps define what’s next: how communications teams operate, how narratives are discovered, and how influence is built before moments matter.

This is not a production role or a tools owner. It is a strategic role designed to future-proof communications, bring cohesion to multiple efforts, and ensure the function leads, rather than reacts, to how information, influence, and trust are evolving.

What you’ll do:

  • Set the strategic direction for Communications and AI: Own the AI strategy for Yahoo’s Communications team, establishing a clear point of view and roadmap that balances near-term impact with long-term innovation. Audit existing communications capabilities, tools, and offerings, and unify them into a thoughtful, scalable approach that strengthens storytelling, media monitoring and reporting, consistency, and performance across the organization.

  • Advance integrated, data-driven storytelling: Partner closely with our team’s vertical communications leads to translate Yahoo-specific topics into compelling, credible stories. Shape and guide integrated communications strategies that align narrative, channels, and measurement across Yahoo’s priorities. Apply a deep understanding of audience behavior, distribution, and performance to move the team from output-driven activity to outcome-driven storytelling.

  • Drive responsible AI transformation: Identify where AI can fundamentally change how communications teams plan, create, optimize, and measure impact. Work closely with partners in legal, compliance, engineering, and cybersecurity to establish standards, playbooks, and governance that enable teams to move quickly while protecting trust, quality, and brand integrity.

  • Anticipate what’s next: Advance Yahoo’s reputation as an industry first mover by tracking emerging trends, including signal detection and foresight communications, narrative influence in AI systems, adaptive storytelling, and next-generation discovery beyond GEO. Translate data, weak signals, and performance insights into strategic recommendations that inform leadership decision-making.

  • Enable and uplevel the team: Build AI literacy and confidence across communications, helping our team and partners understand when to lean into AI and when human judgment must lead. Convene cross-functional working groups or communities of practice to accelerate learning, alignment, and adoption at scale.

What we’re looking for:

Experience

  • Significant experience in communications, marketing, or integrated campaigns, with a strong grounding in audience insight, performance, and data storytelling

  • Proven leadership driving AI-powered transformation within a communications or creative function

  • Experience operating in complex, global, and highly matrixed organizations

Capabilities and mindset

  • Strategic thinker comfortable with ambiguity and building new capabilities from the ground up

  • Data-driven storyteller who can connect insight to narrative and impact

  • Influential communicator who can educate, align, and inspire without formal authority

  • Curious, externally focused, and motivated by reimagining how communications can work better

Bonus qualifications

  • Familiarity with AI performance measurement, governance, or ethical frameworks.

  • Experience leading communities of practice, task forces, or change initiatives.

  • Exposure to crisis communications or high-stakes reputation environments.

What Success Looks Like

The Global Communications AI Adoption Lead will help Communications at Yahoo become more integrated, insight-led, and outcome-driven, with AI embedded responsibly into workflows to improve quality, speed, and consistency. Storytelling is sharper and more cohesive across teams, better positioned for AI-mediated discovery, and viewed by leadership as a source of strategic intelligence rather than just execution.

The material job duties and responsibilities of this role include those listed above as well as adhering to Yahoo policies; exercising sound judgment; working effectively, safely and inclusively with others; exhibiting trustworthiness and meeting expectations; and safeguarding business operations and brand integrity.
