Lead our strategic ocean freight procurement initiatives. This role is pivotal in managing our global ocean freight network, ensuring cost-effective, reliable, and compliant transportation solutions across diverse geographical regions and time zones. The role will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, managing key carrier relationships, and driving continuous improvement in our ocean freight operations.
How you will contribute
  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive global ocean freight sourcing strategies to optimize costs, service levels, and operational efficiency.
  • Category Management: Lead all aspects of ocean freight category management, including market analysis, demand forecasting, tender processes, contract negotiation, and performance management.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong strategic relationships with ocean freight carriers and service providers on a global scale.
  • Global Stakeholder Management: Effectively collaborate with and influence internal stakeholders across various functions (e.g., Supply Chain, Planning, Operations, Finance) and geographies, managing diverse expectations and time zones.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Utilize advanced Excel and data analysis techniques to monitor market trends, analyze performance metrics, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide insightful reports to senior leadership.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identify process efficiencies, and implement best practices in ocean freight sourcing and operations.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks within the global ocean freight supply chain, including geopolitical impacts, capacity constraints, and regulatory changes.
  • Hands-on Execution: Be prepared to dive deep into operational details, troubleshoot issues, and actively participate in the execution of sourcing strategies.
  • Compliance: Ensure all sourcing activities adhere to company policies, ethical guidelines, and relevant international trade regulations.

What you will bring

  • Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience in ocean freight sourcing, procurement, or category management within a global supply chain environment.
  • Global Acumen: Proven ability to manage global logistics operations, navigating different time zones and successfully collaborating with stakeholders distributed worldwide.
  • Analytical Skills: Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation, analysis, and reporting. Strong analytical capabilities to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Sourcing Expertise: Demonstrated experience in leading end-to-end strategic sourcing processes, including RFI/RFP, negotiation, contract management, and supplier performance evaluation.
  • Communication & Negotiation: Exceptional negotiation, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive, results-oriented approach.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field. Master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CSCMP, APICS) is a plus.
  • Systems: Familiarity with CSO and e-sourcing platforms is highly desirable.
