Global Supply Manager

With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Working as a Global Supply Manager (GSM), you will be responsible for the strategic and tactical procurement activities on Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) and Flexible Printed Circuit Assemblies (FPCAs) to support acquisition for Joby Aviation. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in sourcing, including contract manufacturing, PCBA, FPCA, components, and semiconductor supply chains. Using your industry knowledge, you will work with our finance, legal, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to oversee the contract negotiation and establishment of Master Purchase Agreements with our suppliers. The GSM will build and maintain robust supplier relationships to achieve cost, quality, and delivery objectives in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

This individual will have overall responsibility to ensure that materials can be sourced cost-effectively and with the required quality controls in place, as is typical in the aviation industry.

• Owner of RFQs — ensuring all commercial terms are agreed and documented. Ensures NDAs (Non-Disclosure Agreements), Terms & Conditions, Piece Price Agreements, and other related contracts are negotiated and appropriately executed before business is initiated
• Lead the end-to-end sourcing and procurement process for PCBAs, FPCAs, and components
• Drive the price and tooling negotiation process to ensure that Joby's commodity pricing meets Best-In-Class expectations while meeting Internal Quality Standards, in addition to driving continual cost reduction and avoidance initiatives through ad-hoc price negotiations
• Address all areas of category management, including category business plans, market conditions, technology roadmaps, cost modeling, and sourcing strategies
• Monitor global industry trends and risks, track technology roadmaps, and actively partner with the Design teams to identify and mitigate supply and demand challenges
• Manage respective supplier relationships and performance, including dispute resolution, supplier scorecards, and periodic business reviews
• Participate in design reviews, change control meetings, and other technical discussions with Engineering partners
• Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews with Engineering partners and prospective suppliers, and drive decisions from a cost perspective
• Own Clear to Build (CTB) status for BOM components, ensuring assembly schedules start on time and meet required dates in line with demand and supply needs
• Partner closely with the Supplier Industrialization Engineering (SIE) and Material Planning and Management (MPM) teams to ensure supply continuity and maintain alignment of supply to demand
• Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications, as well as basic knowledge of manufacturing process controls and quality assurance for their commodity space
• Comfortable communicating with technical stakeholders both internally and externally
• Lead cross-functional teams to manage project timelines, including developing and maintaining action trackers, Gantt charts, and other program management tools related to on-time delivery of supplier parts against Program timing
• Communicate key supply, cost, and/or quality issues with management teams. Develop corrective action plans to mitigate identified risks
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams and influence timely decisions with key stakeholders to support our mission
• Lead the vendor selection process with engineering teams

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering, plus 3 years of working experience in a procurement/supplier management position; OR a Master's degree plus 2 years of working experience.
• 1+ years of experience in sourcing or procurement with a focus on electronic components, rigid PCBA, Flexible Printed Circuit Assembly (FPCA), or electronics manufacturing.
• In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years of experience working in Commodity Management/Procurement.
• Basic understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes (SMT, through-hole, inspection, functional test, conformal coating, and final assembly) and/or electronic component sourcing.
• Exposure to custom, build-to-order parts.
• Familiarity with reading and updating supplier contract agreements.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles.

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $$87,800 - $142,900 per year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
