AI is the new electricity. Millions of AI engineers are needed to transform industries with AI, particularly in the realm of GenAI, and we’re building an education platform to train them. With a mission to grow and connect the global AI community, DeepLearning.AI is an education technology company that is empowering the global workforce to build an AI-powered future through world-class education, hands-on training, a collaborative community and in-person global conferences. We’re a small tech company with serious credentials, exciting challenges, and wonderful teammates.

We’re seeking an entrepreneurial and AI-passionate General Manager for our AI Dev line of global conferences to build and scale DeepLearning.AI’s AI events business into a flagship brand for the global AI developer community.

You are our ideal candidate if you have a deep passion for AI, strong instincts for what developers care about, and a track record of building new business lines or programs from the ground up.

Reporting directly to Andrew Ng, you will own the end-to-end strategy and execution of large-scale AI events - from content and speaker curation to sponsorships, partnerships, logistics, and revenue.

This is a high-ownership role for a builder who thrives in ambiguity, moves fast across functions, and is excited about creating world-class experiences that bring the AI community together.

This role is 5 days/week in our Mountain View office with ability to travel domestically and internationally for a total of a few weeks every year.

As DeepLearning.AI’s GM, AI Dev, you will:

  • Own the AI events business strategy - develop and execute the vision for DeepLearning.AI’s events business, including product direction, event formats, content, revenue goals, and a roadmap for scaling into a standalone business line.

  • Lead planning and delivery of flagship events - drive end-to-end execution of large-scale AI developer events, from concept and speaker curation to logistics, marketing, and post-event follow-through.

  • Build and optimize cross-functional workflows - coordinate work with marketing, sponsor and speaker partnerships, event production logistics, finance, and content teams to deliver seamless events. Establish repeatable processes that scale.

  • Drive revenue and growth opportunities - identify and pursue monetization models including sponsorships, ticketing, content partnerships, and new event formats.

  • Curate world-class content and speakers - develop event agendas that deliver deep, practical, hands-on technical learning experiences that AI developers genuinely value. Leverage and nurture DeepLearning.AI’s brand and network to attract top speakers and thought leaders.

  • Manage vendors, partners, and operational capacity - work with internal and external partners to scale event operations. Own vendor relationships, budgets, and the operational infrastructure needed to grow the business.

  • Build and lead the events team - recruit and develop a high-performing team as the business grows. Define team structure, roles, and metrics to support long-term scaling.

Your skills (things you can do):

  • Understand the AI developer community deeply - what developers care about, what motivates them, and how they prefer to learn and connect. If you are a member of the developer community yourself, that would be ideal.

  • Comfortable coding with AI and working with AI tools, and hunger to continue learning, to accelerate your own and the team’s productivity.

  • Take an initiative from concept to execution, working cross-functionally and navigating ambiguity with a bias toward action.

  • Build and optimize operational systems for large-scale events, including logistics, vendor management, and cross-functional coordination.

  • Develop and execute revenue strategies across sponsorships, ticketing, content partnerships, and new event formats.

  • Curate compelling event content and speaker lineups that deliver practical, hands-on value to technical audiences.

  • Recruit, develop, and lead high-performing teams while fostering a culture of ownership and collaboration.

  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset  - comfortable building from scratch, wearing multiple hats, and iterating quickly based on feedback and traction.

Your experience (things you have done):

  • At least 7 years of professional experience.

  • Including 3+ years in operations, general management, business building, or event leadership, event production, sponsorships, partnerships, or monetization models (AI/tech events strongly preferred).

  • Demonstrated experience taking new initiatives from concept to execution in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.

Bonus if you have:

  • Deep familiarity with the AI event and conference landscape (e.g., academic conferences like NeurIPS/ICML/ICLR, Google I/O, Hugging Face events).

  • Experience building a new business line or revenue stream from the ground up.

  • Background in developer marketing, developer relations, or technical community building.

At DeepLearning.AI, we are committed to fostering a workplace of mutual respect and equal opportunity. We hire based on qualifications, merit, and business needs, without discrimination on any characteristic - whether protected by applicable laws or not. Our goal is to attract, recruit, develop, and retain the best talent from a diverse candidate pool.
